I recently visited Delicia in Indianapolis, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. The waiter seemed to be in a rush and did not offer any apologies or understanding when we arrived just 10 minutes late due to heavy traffic.
To make matters worse, we were informed that we only had an hour to eat, which is an incredibly tight timeframe for enjoying a meal. This rushed atmosphere immediately dampened our dining experience and left us feeling stressed and hurried throughout our entire visit.
The most disheartening part was the constant stares from the waitstaff and their seemingly judgmental whispers about our presence. It's incredibly unprofessional and impolite for the staff to openly discuss and gossip about customers. Their behavior only added to our sense of discomfort and made us feel unwelcome in the establishment.
we expected to be treated with respect and courtesy. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Delicia. We left feeling disappointed and disheartened by the lack of hospitality and professionalism displayed by the staff.
Given our connections within the community, we will make it a point to share our dissatisfaction with our friends, family, and acquaintances. We believe it's essential for others to be aware of the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere at Delicia.
Furthermore, to add insult to injury, when we inquired about the rushed service, we were told that the reason for the time constraint was because another party was scheduled to arrive at 8 o'clock, and they needed to accommodate them. While we understand the need to manage reservations efficiently, it is unacceptable to prioritize one party over another to the point where it negatively impacts the dining experience of paying customers.
This explanation only further reinforced our feelings of being unwelcome and undervalued as patrons. It is disheartening to see a restaurant prioritize the needs of one party while disregarding the satisfaction and comfort of others. This kind of disregard for customer experience is simply unacceptable and reflects poorly on the management of Delicia.
In light of this additional information, our dissatisfaction with Delicia has only deepened. We strongly urge potential diners to consider these factors when deciding where to dine in Indianapolis. It is crucial to choose a restaurant that values and respects all of its customers, regardless of any scheduling conflicts that may arise. Delicia, unfortunately, failed to meet these basic expectations, leaving us with a truly disappointing experience.
In conclusion, I strongly discourage anyone from visiting Delicia in Indianapolis. The rushed service, unwelcoming stares, and unprofessional behavior of the staff left a lasting negative impression on us. There are plenty of other dining options in the area that will provide a more enjoyable and...
Read moreI wouldn't necessarily call this a hidden gem because I think the word is out, but for someone coming from Zionsville, this is Definitely something we needed to search to find. We were planning our anniversary dinner and we're mainly looking through places downtown. We scoured through photos and got recommendations from friends, but just couldn't decide. We were eventually in between bocca and Delicia. After reading the menu though, it was an easy choice. We were looking for something we couldn't just make ourselves and something that would be unique. Delicia fit our criteria perfectly and we're so glad we went! You can tell they were on it right from the start because we waited (only) 5 minutes for anyone to check in on our table and they ended up apologizing, taking our drink orders and even surprising us at the end with a free churro dessert. We've been places that will make you wait ten minutes or more and then never even mention it. Already I felt pretty good. We ended up getting 3 entres and 4 of their cocktails. Everything was amazing. We did the empanadas as an appetizer and they were perfect to share between two people and just so amazing fluffy and flavorful. The beef inside them was ridiculous! 10/10. Then for our entres I got the mar y Tierra which has flank steak and shrimp. My only negative on this dish was that the steak was a little chewy for my liking, but it was cooked perfectly medium rare, just needed to cut smaller pieces. 8/10. My wife ordered the birria and hers was a 10/10, extremely well thought out with the flavors and the rice and everything together was so delicious.
We ordered four cocktails:
EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE 10/10 PANCHO VILLA: 10/10 SMOKE AND STONE: 8/10 AMERICAN MATADOR 9/10
Being a whiskey drinker the emperor's new groove was an amazing cocktail, I will be going to buy the abasolo whiskey they used to make this because I already have the nixta corn liquor. Such an amazing drink. My wife's favorite was the PANCHO VILLA, really amazing too.
Robin, our server was incredible at making recommendations and explaining the differences between the menu items. She made it so easy for us to make a decision by asking us our preferences.
Oh, and those churros we had complementary at the end were just ridiculously delicious. So warm and doughy on the inside and perfectly sugared and crispy on the outside, and it also came with a chocolate dipping sauce.
The whole ride home and even later that night we were reminiscing on the meal we had at Delicia!
This is one of those places that we will be taking friends and family when they come from out of town.
Highly, highly,...
Read moreMyself and a party of 6 adults plus 1 child booked a reservation for 6:30pm. 5 of us arrived at the destination at 6:40, delayed due to traffic and we were promptly seated but within 5 minutes of sitting down, we were told by the waitress that we needed to be finished by 8 due to them booking another party. We all initially brushed it off as kind of rude but because it was a night to just catch up with family, we decided not to ruin our night. 10 minutes into our seating our waitress comes back and asks can she put food in, we decline. 2 of our guests had not made it in yet and we have just ordered appetizers for the table. 7:04, our 2 additional guests make it in and tell us that upon entry into the restaurant that they were told we all need to be gone by 8. That was the just of our visit. We were made to feel very uncomfortable by the staff and also made to feel like we were talking up space that we should not have our entire stay. Because everyone at this table were all business professionals with reputations, even with the hostile environment, on 1 check we still tipped 18% of our overall bill. However, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone in my circle and nor will any of my guests at the table. It was extremely uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and the food was just okay. 5 of us ended up getting boxes to go because we were not welcome to sitting and enjoying our food do to the stares from our waitress and staff and the continuous pressure to leave. Absolutely horrible service. My advice would be to do better with your planning. If there is an overlap due to lack of planning on your part, handle it more professionally because you don’t know the individuals coming to dine in your restaurant or the business they can bring. We also left after 8pm and the party they were so insistant upon was not there.
Response to the Owner I appreciate you taking time to respond and this will be my last corespondents. 1) Our arrival time was exactly 6:40 and indicated by our GPS and the time stamp on the text messages sent to our remaining guests. The information you provided is misinformed and untrue
