Beautiful, well maintained facility. Well staffed. Problems are the sheer size if you are there for a large conference, as I walked 3+ miles in a day every day back and forth between exhibit halls, conference room and adjacent hotel. They do have escalators, but they really should invest in a moving sidewalk for the Maryland Street side to get from one end to another. I was surprised there were no obvious help for handicapped, no golf carts, no motorized scooters, etc, nor any staff to assist. The catered food is what really detracts from the venue. The food was AWFUL. Every chicken dish was cold (like it had been sitting, not that it just came from refrigerator) and therefore sketchy as can be, I was terrified to eat most of it for fear of getting food poisoning. None of the chicken had any seasoning, and it was all tough/rock hard (I broke the plasticware trying to cut it). Many dishes unnecessarily added dairy to them, and 20% of population is lactose intolerant, 4% are allergic to bovine protein. Why are you putting cheese in the salads? Cheese should be on the side. You ruin the one dish for those allergic to cheese, plus vegans can eat. Every day they were out of diet/zero sugar sodas by noon. Snacks were literally candy bars, Doritos, potato chips, donuts, pastries, ice cream etc! Very few healthy options. Occasionally there were Kind bars and whole apples/oranges, but you don't know if they'd been washed, and how many attendees handled, and no close place to rinse them off yourself. The one day they had cut fruit, a staff member saw tongs drop on the floor, and picked them up and put them right back on the platter in front of us all! Vending machines were always empty (still couldn't buy a diet coke), and the convenience kiosk was rarely open. The one time it was it was $5 for a 20oz bottle of Coke Zero! The area is pretty, but depressing. There's a dead mall, and lots of awful overpriced restaurants. There are no CVS/Walgreens, no 7-11 or stores to buy snacks. I never even saw a place to buy a t-shirt...
Read moreThere's a reason Indy is consistently rated as the #1 Convention City in the United States and it's in no small part because of the Indiana Convention Center. Expanded again and again over decades and always kept current on modern renovations, it is a massive, multi-block venue that can handle multiple large conventions simultaneously. This is one of the cleanest facilities of any kind I have been to, the world over! The staff are fantastic and the hospitality is consistent with what should be expected of the Hoosier State, which is known for its hospitality. While it may be more expensive to book this facility than many others around the US, you are really getting back what you're willing to invest into your event, when it comes to booking the ICC from an ROI perspective. Highly, highly impressed.
The unique set of Skywalks connecting hotels, restaurants, shopping, offices, etc. in most of the western areas of Downtown Indy to the Convention Center is one of the things that makes the ICC and Downtown Indy the place to have a convention of any size. You cannot beat the experience your convention attendees will have, during their time in this City...
Read moreI had such a great time at the black expo this Saturday. The place is huge and not far from the circle center Mall, where we parked. There were many vendors, articles for sale, local as well as national companies that were offering free stuffs( seal breakers or letter openers, bags, pens, water bottles, pop corns, stickers, hand sanitizers, chapsticks, pictures, etc). The only negative comment I will make about the event is the food. It was expensive and very bad. After spending $20 on some fried fish, chicken, and Mac and cheese, two of my friends returned their food because it wasn't edible, no flavor at all. It was a rip off. Not sure why they charged so much for food. Is it because the event was free? We were very disappointed by our meals. I got some ribs with French fries and Mac and cheese. My Jaws were hurting after taking few bites. The ribs were undercooked, and I felt like I was chewing some rubber. I paid $23 for the food and a glass of lemonade. My drink was extremely sweet I had to dilute it with some water that I was carrying. 😒😒. Big waist of my money. If you can i suggest that you bring...
