I'd like to give the Keystone Diner 3.5 but I'll round it up to 4 and hope they fix some chronic problems I've had. First, the food is really excellent more often than not. The atmosphere has really brightened up from its previous owners and the staff is always friendly. Some issues I've had regularly (3+ times): Coffee. The last several times I've been in, I've struggled to get even a second cup of coffee, let alone a steady refill throughout my meal. For a breakfast diner, this is a huge problem. Toast. For some reason, I cannot get the toast I order with my meal to come out within 15-20 minutes of the rest of my meal. I've literally had the toast delivered after I've eaten my entire meal and prepared to pay my bill. Toast is not difficult, nor does it take long. I don't understand why this happens every time, but it does. The television. There is a small television up front near the waitress station that is on and blaring loud. No one can actually hear what is on the television and its position means only a few can even see it, but the sound is definitely disrupting every conversation nearby. Mute the TV and put on closed captioning. There's simply no reason for it to be turned up, even less so when it's on Fox News. This does not make for a relaxing breakfast. These complaints are not minor nitpicks. Coffee and the ability to talk without shouting over a TV should be essential qualities of any diner. The good news is, they are SO easy to fix. Correct these issues and the diner becomes a 5 star...
Read moreThe place it self was alright it was a diner in keystone pretty old looking it needed a remodel 10 years ago but was about what you’d expect. The service was fine our server was friendly. I ordered the breakfast burger the egg was way over done completely hard. Why you’d want a dry egg on a burger that doesn’t have sauce is beyond me. The burger was over cooked and had no flavor. The whole thing was just dry and I was forced to put ketchup on it which was disappointing I would much prefer some hollandaise sauce or at least a runny yolk and for $14 plus a dollar extra for fries it’s a bit much. Not only were the fries extra but they weren’t good either. They weren’t crispy they tasted like the freezer and the oil they were cooked in and the worst part they didn’t have salt on them. Overall I was very disappointed. My dad ordered eggs with hash browns, sausage, and blueberry pancakes. He said the whites on the eggs were undercooked so he had to scrape the tops off because they were inedible. The pancakes were just fine they tasted like cake way too sweet and the blueberry Syrup was more like blueberry jelly the 1 good thing we ordered was the hash browns. Apparently those were nice and crispy. My brother says his breakfast bowl was pretty good although he said they went a bit over the top with ham and the biscuits weren’t very good. Over all for almost $70 with tip for 3 people is horrible the only reason I didn’t give them a 1 star is because our server...
Read moreokay the keystone Diner which used to be called The Deli has been a staple in my life my whole entire 39 years to come home and see the changes the atmosphere still is welcoming and it feels like home the decor has changed but that's okay The smiling faces from the waitresses are still the same great people but let's talk about the food the food has changed drastically to me not for the better the keystone diner used to be a place that you could come and get greasy spoon home cooking and just downright good service now it has turned into a regular little yuppie Broadripple place that does not have any culture or does not have a or any nostalgia of the years past which is sad because it was one of the one places that you could depend on that the food was very good and the staff was great and the atmosphere was just to Indianapolis down-home type of environment now they have put us into a cookie cutter box conforming us into something people in broad ripple would like nothing on the lines of what we are used to sad but true that there was a awesome ethnic culture in the kitchen and awesome down-home atmosphere and now it has changed into something that is more accustomed to a more metropolitan suburban feel with no culture they're going to be missed I will never...
