Beautiful and comfy, delicious cuisine with excellent service. Date night at a new (and newly opened) restaurant. I'm a picky eater and my only disappointment was the limited food menu currently available until their formal grand opening -- hopefully soon. We were seated on a cozy welcoming couch with lots of comfy pillows. Neighboring tables had nice black chairs that appeared well cushioned. Elegant lanterns lit the room.
Pomegranate Ginger Smash The Sparkling Red City Moroccan Soul (soup) Marrakesh Salad Hen Coquelets Elmahgdor Tangier Chickpea Saffron Chocolate Mousse
The Sparkling Red City drink perfectly complements the Moroccan Soul. My husband enjoyed the Pomegranate Ginger Smash and I strongly agree with his response: "drink good."
The salad is nice and refreshing, very mild flavor on the dressing which is a citrus vinaigrette that pairs out nicely with the bits of salt you get from the olives and feta – excellent. Nothing special to say about the chicken – it is good roasted chicken. The Elmahgdor is perfectly tender and lean with a savory sauce just a touch too salty for my preference. It would have benefited from a side of couscous or rice to soak some of it. While we would’ve liked a stronger flavor from The Tangier Chickpeas, the side pairs well with the strong flavors of our drinks and the sauce of the Elmahgdor. All the elements balance together to create a greater experience than they would separately. My husband would have liked a bit stronger hand on flavoring some of the food, but it meant that the dishes all combined well with the other dishes on the menu and contrasted with the strong flavors in the custom cocktail menu. The drinks paired well with the entrés and side dish.
We had one minor concern which we brought up to our friendly and attentive server, Mira. She promptly got the owner and he resolved it straight away in a calm, professional manner.
Dessert was a delicious chocolate mousse, very good texture and mid-dark chocolate flavor. Good contrast with the citrus gel or jam that was served on it as garnish.
I would recommend Marrakesh for a meal when you can afford to splurge a bit and get the full experience. The menu has mocktail options as well so everyone can enjoy the pairings of delectable concoctions with...
Read moreThis is what the area needs so badly, new and unique food that is finer dining. I cannot wait to see what they continue to do. I could not rave about the food more, full of flavor and spices while done with a deft hand.
The shrimp pil pil was a perfect starter. The shrimp was perfectly cooked in a sauce that offered the warmth and brightness in harmony.
The Lamb shank was truly a Mount Rushmore execution of lamb. The minute you touch it with your fork, you know based on the tenderness that they nailed it. The only thing I want more of is all the savory drippings to sop up with the Moroccan bread because I couldn’t get enough of it. The Zaalouk paired perfectly with this dish offering a nice creamy and smokiness.
The attention to detail with sourcing of high quality Moroccan wine (and the use of the spice aroma in their excellent cocktails) should not be left without mentioning. Such an approachable yet intimate experience, run,...
Read moreIn an unassuming little strip of shops, there is a direct portal to the flavors of Morocco. Had lots of things on the first try. The classic harira soup took me back to my cooking class in Fez. Tried the lovely shrimp and calamari spinach salad. The dressing was a citrus delight. Had the lamb tajine and eggplant zaalouk as a side. Fall off the bone lamb shank. The cocktail list was lovely. I ended up with an apricot and turmeric non alcoholic cocktail that was sublime. Even with no room left, had the chocolate saffron puree mousse and Moroccan tea service. Satisfaction down memory lane of my wonderful travels in this beautiful country.
Ps. Peep the art work around the room. :) beautiful photos but there’s a few that will make you smile...
