🥳 Mr. Tequila's Cantina & Grill Indianapolis🥳
We got there early on a Wednesday, just as the Lily and other local workers were getting out for lunch.
I like the two different vibes in the dining area and bar. They have live music and shows on the weekends.
We had:
1.Complimentary chips and salsa
Queso dip ($5.99) - this is a thing you never find in California and while I don't care for it, my mom loves it. This queso was very watery and the most disappointing things of our meal but my mom still ate it 😂.
Enchiladas Rancheras ($12.99) - "Three corn enchilada tortillas, stuffed with marinated grilled chicken and covered with red ranchera salsa lettuce, radishes and mexican cheese and sour cream served with refried black beans." (DELICIOUS. I never had radish and lettuce on my enchiladas and it was so good. All white meat chicken with a great marinade. Small but savory enchiladas. The black beans were the BEST I'VE EVER HAD hands down)
Hard Shell Tacos with Ground Beef (One for $2.19) - Mom loved it and said it was better than Taco Bell. She's a basic food B so that was a big compliment 🤣
Texas Margarita ($12) - Their top shelf. The server wasn't able to answer my questions about the margaritas (I don't like sweet and sour) so I ordered the top shelf. I thought it was OK. There was sweet and sour in it and it wasn't strong at all, which was OK for it being 11:30 AM 😂
Virgin Strawberry Margarita ($9.99) for mom. She drank it all and loved it. Off the menu tomatillo hot sauce. Smokey in flavor. I thought it was OK. Did the trick at adding heat to notoriously non-spicy Hoosier food.
Overall, I'd go back for the food and to try a different drink.
Overall, I'd say a generous 4 out of 5 stars for ambiance, friendliness, parking/location, and the entrees. I'll be back for sure...
Read moreThe food was decent, but it didn't make up for the poor service, or the horrible location. First off, there's almost NO ROOM for parking. Second, my wife and I had to flag someone down to get us seated. And our server seemed to have a real attitude. Never smiled - not that I expect a person to always have a big cookie-eating grin on their face 24/7. But this one seemed annoyed that my wife and I were there. She acted put out when we asked for menus. Apparently we were supposed to scan a QR code at the table, but those things are always so difficult to get to work right. And when we DID get them to work right, the menu was hard to read on our phones. Which one has to use to scan the QR code in the first place. Our server also told us that the prices were different on the menu on the website than they were in the printed menu she brought us! What the h, man!? After a lot of time waiting she finally came by to take our order. My wife asked for, and I quote, "the exact same thing that [I was] having." I ordered a three-enchilada dinner. But when our food was brought out, my wife got shorted one enchilada. We were VERY CLEAR on what we wanted. Our server never apologized for the mess up, nor did she ever thank us at any point during our time there. Even though we thanked everyone for what they did. Including our server! And after that, we still had to flag someone down just to bring us our ticket. And after I gave our server my card, she was slow in getting it back to us. I'm not unreasonable in that regard, and I know that it can get busy during the dinner rush. But to be honest, it wasn't really THAT busy. There were tables occupied, but there were also several that weren't. So it wasn't like it was a full house. Again, when we DID get our food, it was decent. But all in all... my wife and I were VERY disappointed. We were on the road, and had just stopped in Indianapolis for the night. We were very tired from an 11-hour drive, and very hungry. So we were looking forward to a good dinner at this restaurant. Unfortunately... We were both SORELY disappointed. If we do stop in this city again during a road trip... we will probably be giving another competing restaurant...
Read moreFood: everything I have ordered in the last 3 weeks has been beyond exquisite and delicious. All with authentic Puebla's own flavor. So to the lady that said fajitas were bland, I seriously question your review. The nopales tacos with their extra spicy salsa are to die for (also their eggs and nopales plate). The special tortilla they use just tops everything with that authentic flavor. The carnitas plates is just delicious, specially with their homemade flour tortillas. So good!!! The beans and rice are also very good with their own authentic flavors. If you're looking for chile relleno order their "chile poblano" this is the place to order it. Cocktails: the Michelada is the GOAT of all. The variety of tequila choices makes ordering hard. You can tell their tequila buyer knows and understands tequila quality, including with mezcals. We have had several cocktails from their menu, and have not disappointed. Keeping in mind every one has their own taste buds and preferences. Lastly, the entire restaurant always feels clean, including the restrooms. Which is a huge plus because makes me not-wonder about their kitchen. You get what you pay for. In this case, flavor, authentic dishes, quality (fresh food) and great...
