Arrived fairly late for dinner at about 7 on a Saturday for a party of two. After waiting about 5 minutes in a not-so-busy restaurant, what I can only assume was a waiter seated us with our menus and then disappeared. After waiting another 10 minutes, seeing if he would come back, or if anyone would notice, a waitress arrived and seemed confused when we asked her if they were 'short-staffed' considering the "service" we had gotten so far. After ordering just a mixed drink, water, and no bread, we waited another 5 minutes for our water (and bread we stated we did not want), and another 5 before the mediocre drink finally arrived and we could order.
The Blooming Onion we ordered was strangely not very oniony or pungent, greasy even by deep frying standards, and had a breading reminiscent of the seasoning BK uses for their onion rings. I ordered a Center-Cut Sirloin (Medium), ceasar, and mashed taters. My #2 ordered the "Alice Springs Chicken", chili, and mac & cheese. The Steak was rare in some places, medium rare at best near the edges. Ceasar salad was decent but some greens were very clearly wilted, and the potatoes were the only saving grace. The chicken dish was atrocious and does not sound as good as it's described, let alone taste as good as you'd imagine. The chicken itself, without any toppings, had a strange "ammonia" aftertaste that we coped with by telling ourselves it was just liquid smoke or something. The mushrooms were most definitely canned, the bacon was chewy and not at all crispy as I assumed, the cheese did nothing to help the combo of flavors, and the "honey mustard sauce" was served in a tiny Solo dipping cup which we were thankful for because it tasted like Great Value Big Mac sauce. The mac n cheese was pitiful with almost al-dente noodles and basically no sauce, and the chili could've been canned as far as I could tell.
$60+ spent for snails-pace service with awful food, and the only thing I could feel was pity for the waitress, because I'll never be back, but she still has to work at Outback. It's no wonder the parking lot had plenty of parking spaces (and potholes) on a Saturday night. If I was Australian I'd personally think this was America's way of brainwashing people into thinking they cook as bad...
Read moreWe arrived here on a Wednesday around 7. The place was not super busy, but no one at the front to greet us. After a few minutes a gentleman told us he would get us seated in a few minutes. We didn't mind waiting, the place wasn't too busy, but the gentleman didn't seem too happy to be there or to be working. If he was the hostess he was also bussing tables, so I understand that he was busy, just not very friendly. The food itself was fine. Our waitress was pleasant enough, just a little misunderstanding with my sons order and not hearing him correctly, but it was promptly fixed and brought out by someone who appeared to be the manager. As we are traveling , we stopped here for not a fast food meal and I normally don't choose outback, so I am a little biased. The steak flavoring was ok, a little too much pepper for my liking, but flavor was adequate. My son ribs were actually really good for having sauce on them (I'm not a sauce on rib person). Both of my kids ordered steak, which was cooked to their preference. My husband and I had slightly over cooked steaks, but not anything we couldn't eat. My husband also had shrimp, which he said was delicious. My daughter and I both ordered mushrooms, which I ususlly love with my steak, but did not care for all the liquid these were prepared in compared to other steak places. My favorite thing was the appetizer. I can understand after eating the meal, why the gentleman earlier could be upset since our waitress did not remove any dishes from our table, the cooks did when our food came out as well as the manager when he brought my sons ribs out. I'm not one to really talk about restrooms in a food review, but this had to be mentioned for my husband to complain about it... my husband and son both said the restroom smelled horrid and was disgusting. My husband stated it looked like they closed a bathroom down, but did not clean it afterwards, stating that there was feces and flies all over the toilet that was shut down. My son refused to go back in there after eating his ribs and I had to have him go into the women's bathroom to wash his...
Read moreWe went to celebrate my daughter's fiancè's birthday. We arrived shortly after 7:30 & was told there was a 50 min wait. They said they'd send us a text when they had a table available. About 2 hrs later we had still heard nothing so I went in to check. The hostess obviously knew right off that they had forgot us and seated us right away. (Strike one..) Once seated a new hire waiter took our drink and appetizer order. 2 had drinks from the bar, one water and I had a soda and ice water.. we got the non alcoholic drinks but had to ask repeatedly about the bar drinks and appetizer (blooming onion), the men eventually got their drinks, had to ask again about our appetizer. He assured us it was coming, tended to 2 other tables, stopped & took our meal orders. Eventually our blooming onion came out. It was long gone before my husband & my salads came. Our meals came after the salads were gone (this was taking a ridiculously long time. My husband's steak was extremely well done, (At home I would have considered it too burnt), my daughter & her fiancè's meals were good but my prime rib was so full of gristle less than half was edible. (Our dog enjoyed it!) By now I'm pretty upset but our waiter was kind and new so I said nothing but really felt that if they were going to start someone new to serving on a Saturday night the manager should have helped and perhaps ghosted him to help train. That did not happen. We weren't asked if we wanted desserts. We were as far as I could see, the last to leave. Mind you this was a birthday celebration. I was VERY disappointed and not happy. I should have complained but I didn't. I felt bad for our waiter. He was very nice but obviously struggling and offered no help from his manager. He really could be a good server. It seemed just...
