Time for an update to my review since it has been awhile since my last visit. I had two recent trips to Randy's. Late night sweet tooth craving. Let's jump right into this review.
Corky Facts - Randy’s is consistently named one of the top donut shops in the country and the most reviewed and highest rated donut shop on Yelp for 70 years! Randy's and the ICONIC donut on top of the building has been around since 1952.
Trip #1 To my surprise, the line was short and it took me about 5 minutes to order and receive my donut. As I was waiting, I saw they had two new Summer flavors - Key Lime Pie & Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake. Yes! I love both those options. As I stepped to the window almost drooling, both options were sold out. BUT the employee assisting me said, "one moment", as she disappeared behind donut racks. When she reappeared she had made me a Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake Donut. I was overjoyed! Shout out to this employee for going the extra mile. For that level of customer service, I returned later in the week to try the Key Lime Pie Donut.
Trip #2 I went earlier in the day in hopes to secure a Key Lime Pie Donut. Success! This was a drive-thru order. No line, we drove right up to the intercom. Donut ordered and retrieved within minutes.
Both trips I didn't encounter long lines which is rare. Lines are usually long at Randy's. Customer service was great both times. The summer specials were pricey, about $5 per donut.
Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake - 7/10, the chocolate dipped donut is cut in half with whipped cream and strawberries in the middle, topped with a fresh strawberry and whipped cream.
Key Lime Pie - 6/10, top of donut dipped in key lime icing and topped with whipped cream. I would take PIE out the title, it's just key lime icing... the spinkle of graham cracker over the top isn't enough in my opinion to mirror a key lime pie. This donut missed the mark.
Things to know - Tourist attraction Long lines, walk up and drive-thru, something to note Variety of donuts offered Parking lot available Swag available for purchase Great photo-ops for all your social media posts Open 24 hours (this location only) Other locations in the Los Angeles County area, Culver City and...
Read moreThe food is great, and the speed of service is decent — no complaints there. Service has generally been good, but today (March 17) at 7:25 AM was an exception.
I went through the drive-thru and placed my order with "Emily," a girl wearing a black hoodie with semi-curly hair. Right off the bat, things felt a little off — she seemed to have an attitude while taking my order over the intercom, but I brushed it off. I ordered two vanilla lattes and some donuts.
At the window, another girl in a grey sweater (who was very nice, by the way) repeated my order and took my payment. I realized I hadn’t specified the size, so I told her they were mediums. She passed that to Emily. I then noticed Emily roll her eyes as she grabbed two hot cups. I quickly clarified, "Actually, they were iced — you can charge me if it costs more." The girl reassured me that the price was the same and relayed the change to Emily.
That’s when Emily loudly shouted, "QUE NO MAME, he said lattes," from across the shop — loud enough for me to hear from the outside and inside my car. Look, I get it — I forgot to say "iced," BUT I also offered to pay the difference if needed. Plus, there were no other customers at the time, so the frustration seemed unnecessary. Maybe Emily was having a rough morning — we all have those — but yelling that across the shop was incredibly disrespectful.
The girl in the grey sweater handled the situation well and remained polite. She handed me the drinks and suggested that next time I say, I want them iced. I responded,” Yeah, that was my fault” and asked for Emily's name.
Not the best way to start my morning, but aside from that, the donuts were delicious, and the MEDIUM ICED vanilla lattes (which were prepared by the girl in the grey sweater) were spot-on. Kudos to her for the great service! Emily, if that is your real name… Respectfully, DO BETTER that isn’t a good look for...

Even more awesome is the In-N-Out nearby as well so save your appetite! We came here for a special treat for our terrible "cheat day"....their glazed doughnuts are excellent. That's all you need. Mark my words.
It's Mother's Day under statewide lockdown but before lock down, take our advice - go through the drive-thru. If it were a normal day before COVID, I would advise to use the drive-thru. They don't want to congest traffic too much so that line seems to go quicker.
Man, oh man....I just don't understand how you can eat Randy's Donuts and not feel a thing. I can go elsewhere and grab a doughnut but it doesn't melt in my mouth like Randy's doughnuts do nor do they upset my digestive system. How is this possible? How did I eat three doughnuts without feeling it? My stomach feels amazing. I don't feel heavy and miserable.
I'm not sure what's in Randy's Donuts but they know what they're doing! It's like In-N-Out so don't be a jerk. You may have to slow down traffic by taking up a lane and wait thirty minutes but it's definitely worth the wait!
2017.12-16: Wayne's World! Can you believe we are here again? It's always worth driving from the valley to get a dozen of glazed doughnuts from this place! Tip: use the drive thru! We stood in line for over an hour this day! Other than that, you will have melt in your mouth doughnuts and you won't even have a clue that you already ate three of them. One glazed doughnut will do you in so if you are on any type of diet, I suggest you order what you will eat because you won't realize you ate half a dozen. I don't know what they put in their dough but I can have it and I'm allergic to gluten! If you can eat doughnuts then...
