I placed an order yesterday for a tray of okra without meat. I get there today and to start off the wahala, despite the fact that he was on the phone with me while I paid via zelle, called and confirmed with the owner that the payment went through, the short cashier starts chastising me "did you pay, did you pay, are you sure you paid". Then he starts attacking the cook "are you sure there's no meat because she didn't pay for meat. The lady made the mistake if adding meat. He tells me to give him the soup so they can remove the meat. How preposterous!!! They literally took the soup and fished out the meat. 🤔 I asked for a plastic bag, he said "we dont give plastic bags". There's always one thing or another going on. No change for customers, rude customer service, the same short guy telling me "do you even tip", the female employees rolling their eyes, and arguing with me. I just spent $135 and I asked for a side of pepper, and he's giving me an amount the size of a tablespoon saying "this is very expensive sauce". I think his Napoleon complex is getting to his senses. I had to tell him that the things he says are unnecessary, but i dont blame him, its the owner that encorages their behavior. As I was leaving he didn't say thank you, came outside to unlock the security gate and was staring me down as I drove away. (Side note: my uncle came here months ago and vowed to never come back because the woman cashier didn't want to give him change, they ordered like $100 worth of food and said he would walk to the store next door for change, she refused, so he just cancelled the entire order. I went to visit him and he's furiously ranting about his experience at a Nigerian restaurant and it happened to...
Read moreMy first time buying nigerian food since over a year I moved to California and I'm dissatisfied and disappointed at the same time. 😰😰 I have been craving for moimoi for over a week and I finally saw the restaurant on Google, I called them, and confirmed they have moi moi. I got there and asked for 10 moimoi which is $4 a pack. The moimoi was tied in the bag since is a takeout order and also cold so I felt maybe this is how they sell them only for us to get home and open the moimoi and behold they are spoilt. There is water inside them meaning they are old moimoi. I have lived in 4 states and traveled to a lot of states in the US and I have never for once bought moimoi from a Nigerian restaurant and it's cold or spoilt. I literally paid $40 for a spoilt moimoi 😭😭 THEIR OGA SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE MOIMOI IS NOT FRESH OR NOT GOOD!!! Before moimoi starts bringing out water it was once frozen or it has been in the fridge for more than 4 days.
I'm definitely returning the moi moi tomorrow and no, I don't need my money back, I will just drop them. I can't even give this moimoi to beggers on the street.
The ofada stew tastes nothing like ofada stew. Ofada stew is made with red bell pepper but this one tastes like tomato that is not properly fried. From my picture you can see a chunk of fresh tomatoes that is not properly fried. What does fresh tomatoes has to do in ofada stew? 👎👎
I'm so upset right now because I planned not to cook since I'm traveling in a few days + I am sick. I wasted $90 to be upset.
Their pepper soup tastes good. This is my first time here and definitely going to be...
Read moreI visited the restaurant today, and I'm not surprised to say it's more of the same abysmal service as always.
The owner's wife was the cashier. I asked for okra soup, and she said there's no okra. There was a bowl of okra soup in front of her, and her son pointed to it, and she smacked his hand away. Whyyyyy....aunty, you be small pikin? I asked for coconut rice combo (something I order every time I visit, and she said, "There's no coconut rice combo."
Several months ago, despite my better judgment, I attended their grand opening in Long Beach, and his wife was the cashier. Her demeanor was cold and unwelcoming as it was today. I asked for the same okra soup, and she said they don't have it. Her husband interjected and asked the cook to prepare it for me.
I've been patronizing this restaurant for about 7 years or so, and the customer service has always been a problem. To be fair, the owner is a nice guy, but most of his female cashiers are blatantly rude. If they are interacting with a male its all smiles, but if it's a female, there's a problem. The Hispanic guy in front of me was emphatically thanking her "for being so nice to him." I observed their interaction and was foolishly optimistic.
If it were me, I wouldn't have such a good relationship with Veronica, the owner of Veronica's kitchen. I would bring her salads, and she would comp some of my meal and sit down and eat with me.
Daily life comes with a lot of unavoidable stressors. Why are you all so determined to add to that?
