There are many ways to rate hotels. The most common are the star rating systems, which TA uses along with most other sites. The 1-5 range gives a good variation without being bogged down in too much detail. I'll try a rating scale a little different.||First trip overseas for some years with COVID and recovery and this was a solo trip to see some key areas. I was starting in LA, flying in from Sydney with a connection that meant I got in after 10pm, and wouldn't get to any hotel even later once clearing customs and getting car hire and so on. So, with the help of the travel agent, we found this hidden rough gem close to the airport and cheap for the first night.||I really just needed to get a room to crash after the flight. I arrived close to 12pm and checked in through a window. My room was on the ground floor next to stairs at the very front of the hotel. Parking was an issue but I found one, again right at the front, and squeezed in. I wasn't even sure if it was really a park but it was the only space there so I get my bag and go to the room.||This is where the new rating system comes in but first I FaceTime my wife to let her know I'm ok and do a quick pan around the room. She asks if I'm going to be safe there the night. It's got the basics, looks a little worn and rough and there's a lot of loud speeding cars with horns blaring from the street out front. I reassure her I'll not only deadlock the door, I'll jam the chair underneath the handle - a bit tokenistic as it's a roller chair but the high back may prevent the handle being pulled down. Watched too many movies.||The room has a faint stale odour with the scent of smoking that never really leaves a room. The beds are firm and about as clean as can be determined by looking at them. The lights all work, the aircon works, the tv works, nothing collapses and I'm so tired from 20+ hours on planes that I no longer jump at the angry traffic noises outside.||Now the rating. Do I sleep in the bed with around 15 ciggie (cigarette) burns in the bedspread or the one with nearer to 30? There are 2 single beds and in the quality rating for seedy airport hotels this one rates 15+ ciggie burns and no drunks peeing against the doorway (at least not yet). That's not a bad rating. I mean, I could've had 0 ciggie burns but then would you really count it as a seedy airport hotel?||It was cheap, I got in late, everything works, it smelt a bit, the door locked properly, there were burns on the bedspreads but there were two beds to choose from, sure a family came down the stairs just outside dragging their suitcases down each and every step yelling at each other as the dad got angrier and angrier and louder and louder at about 4am that woke me after not much sleep but I lived in the morning. And when I went to my car I didn't have to dodge any pools of urine, just ciggie butts.||Would I stay here again? No|Would I recommend it? No, unless you wanted a seedy cheesy start to your holiday and then it delivers|But it was my choice, it was cheap, it was clean (ish) and everything worked, so it gets 2 stars, 15 ciggie burns and an easy late check-in and smooth check-out.||Note: having issues uploading photos,...
Read moreWhere to start. First of all I knew going in that this was a 2 star hotel with only 3 stars. So my expectations were quite low already. However I booked it because it was walking distance to the SoFi Stadium. The worst part of my entire stay is that I am pretty sure there are bedbugs/fleas/mites. I regret not checking to confirm what bugs bite me but I woke up with really itchy hands and feet. It was unbearable it’s been a week and I still have the itching all over my body. I am praying I didn’t bring any of their critters back to my home. I am currently dealing with the aftermath of staying at that place. Having to bedbug proof my house and watch out for bedbugs. Because the itching is still pretty bad. I’m not sure if it’s just still from the initial bites or if God for bid I brought those things with me in my luggage/clothes. Second the room smells like nothing but cigarette smoke. Although it was a non-smoking room. Second the towels were pretty much dirty kitchen rags they were very rough to the touch again wasn’t expecting much but wasn’t expecting them to be visibly soiled. Although there was parking it was not that great super tight fit so watch out if you have a big car. The area itself is pretty loud at night. As it is on a busy street. There tends to be a lot of police/ambulance activity at night so if you don’t sleep well with sounds it wont work for you. The staff checking in and out was not particularly bad or good. The cleaning staff although they were nice were obviously working with what they had which is not a lot. I stayed there for two nights. Completely regret it. Save your money it’s not worth it. Spend a little more and stay somewhere better I promise it will be worth it. For starters E-Central in downtown LA although it is a three star hotel feels like luxury! Highly recommend E-Central if you are looking for a place to stay in...
Read moreBefore I tell you about this place let me tell you my background. I have been a photographer for motels restaurants and bars for over 13 years. I stayed at this place for the last 12 days. And from the start that I went into my room and it was dirty there was cum on my sheets there was makeup on my pillow from a girl getting laid face down. This place does not have a 24-hour window and when you go to the night window and wake up the night guy he is so mean to you. Let me tell you that most of the people that stay there are prostitutes and they rent every 21 days. After 21 days you have to move out for one day. And then they come back. This place is not worth $80 a night it is not worth $70 a night it is not worth $60 a night. I have been a photographer for over 13 years and this is one of the worst places I have ever lived in my life and when you see the pictures I'm about to attach you won't stay here either unless you're a prostitute or homeless or a pimp. I do not tell a lie the only thing good about this place is one of the maids that lives there not both of them just one she was the nicest person about that place. Not the girl who clean my room she doesn't speak English. If you're going to stay here stay on the left side of the motel that's the good side do not stay on the right side of the motel she is one of the worst Maids I have ever met in my life I told you there was semen and makeup in my sheets when I first moved in. She is disgusting. Look at the pictures look at the pictures. I took evidence. Do not stay here unless you're a pimp or prostitute or homeless this place is not worth $80 a night I don't even know...
