Sonny's BBQ — Restaurant in Inverness

While the service and atmosphere was great.. the food was horrible. Ever since we moved out here to Inverness and saw there was a Sonny's I've been wanting to go because I've never had bad food at the one in Tampa. Well, we went to the one here in Inverness and I was extremely disappointed. The only thing that was actually good was the Texas toast. Will not be back and I definitely wouldn't recommend them Edit: I have since been back 2 other times since they had very enticing deals... I got ribs which again, weren't good but the Mac n cheese was great. This most recent time I got the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and it was great. Very happy with this most recent order. Updated my rating to 3 stars. I'm going to go again on Wednesday when they have the same special - pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast with a side and a drink for $5.50. If it's just as good I'll update my rating again. So far consistency and the quality of the ribs have been the issue EDIT: I HAVE SINCE BEEN BACK TWO DIFFERENT TIMES AND GOTTEN THEIR PULLED PORK AND EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. THEIR GENERAL MANAGER REACHED OUT TO ME AND OFFERED TO TAKE CARE OF MY NEXT MEAL AS A SORRY FOR THE TWO BAD EXPERIENCES I HAD WHICH WAS ALL YOU CAN REALLY ASK FOR IN A BUSINESS SO I WANTED TO MAKE SURE TO CHANGE MY REVIEW TO FOUR STARS AND THEN AS LONG AS EVERYTHING GOES GOOD NEXT WEDNESDAY I'LL...

last night we went to dinner we usually have always good experience here, but last night was horrible experience. we stood at the host stand for about 10 minutes waiting to be sat while it was dead and servers were just standing there talking for about 10 till they wanted to sit us. And the server who sat us seemed all pissed off because she had to sit us. also the girl she was talking to was on her phone and looked like she was taking a picture or video of us just very weird and unprofessional…then it took about 10 minutes for somebody to grab our drink order then another 20 mine for the server to bring our drinks. the water was the worst water i ever drank in my life!! I work in a server industry, so I understand but that i didn’t understand…that water was horrible definitely unfiltered !! and the sweet tea tasted like soap witch means they don’t wash there tea urns correctly. and when i got my food which took forever but we didn’t understand because it was so slow!! And then our food finally came out and my toast so was so black and hard and everybody else toast wasn’t burnt just mine ? then i had to take my sister outside because she started throwing up after eating the ribs. and my stomach was turning too pretty sure she got food poisoning. Service sucked !!! food sucked !!! that place used to be good not anymore i’ll never be back here again!!...

I will never give Sonny's in Inverness, Fl my business!! This has over 100 shares on FB, and I hope more people leave a review such as mine.

A group of 8 intellectually disabled adults went to Sonny’s in Inverness for dinner. There were 3 other adults with them to help if needed. The wait staff stood by and argued that neither wanted to serve them. I will add that we tip well for each person eating and it is always more than a group tip would be. No matter, if you choose to work in customer service, that means all customers. The Americians with Disability Act ensures the same rights as everyone else. We frequent restaurants several times a month and try to visit different places for a variety. We have NEVER experienced anything like this before. In fact, servers at The Cove argue over who GETS to wait on us!

I wish I could say I have no words but I do, they are just not nice words. How in the world can someone be so unkind as to refuse service to a group of intellectually disabled adults who only want to enjoy going out to dinner like everyone else.
