Botan Sushi — Restaurant in Irvine

I was surprised to see this took over ky sushi. Ky wasn’t amazing but it had very good sushi, good portions, at very reasonable prices for the area so was my go to. So I ordered yellow tail roll to give the new place a real try and here is the update:

1. the sushi I got tastes as good and as fresh as ky however
2. while kys rolls had 8 robustly sized pieces which I really appreciated, Botan rolls only have 6 smallish pieces which really makes them just too small and not filling to justify a 9$ plus tax price tag!
3. not only are the basic rolls now only 6 pieces, but the rolls I am used to like Tuna and yellowtail rolls are now $2 more per roll at botan (for 2 pieces less!!). That’s an 11 percent price increase for a 25 percent decrease in quantity of food. I can only assume the specialty rolls are a good deal more expensive and smaller as well.

Botan - I really want to love you and come often as do most people in this area I assume - please consider at least changing a roll to 8 pieces. No one but a child can fill up on even 12 small pieces which is already going to be $20 for just a partial meal. Until then, sadly,. I...

I went there for lunch. it was a great experience. the food price I have to say it is pretty reasonable. Maybe it is because near UCI. so, they try to attract more student to eat over there. I ordered some rolls and Sashimi. it was pretty good. the rolls I love the best is the lover roll, and the volcano baked roll and the spicy California roll. Sashimi has big pieces. I order 3 pieces salmon and tuna. they are thick pieces. I love it. my husband ordered their fry Chicken. it was spicy and crispy and inside is juicy. the inside looks pretty nice. they decorate very cute. i took some pictures to post on my social media. looks pretty nice. Had a meal near UCI and randomly found a Japanese restaurant. The prices were very reasonable, and the food was great! Tried three types of sushi, and they were all delicious!

Highly recommend the Volcano Baked Roll! Generously topped, with a warm, crispy layer on top—amazing texture and flavor!

Also loved the cucumber roll without rice—it was super refreshing and light, perfect for a clean palate.
