Crazy Rock'N Sushi — Restaurant in Irvine

Disgusting ambience & our waitress was very poor. We ordered everything clearly on the paper order sheet including the Tempura green beans & she brought us the plain garlic green beans instead. We ordered a chicken salad, it never even came! We ordered one specific crab plate & a different plate with crab came, we returned it & finally got the correct crab plate. Mind you it was clearly on the order form! She would hardly come by our table & if she did she altogether avoided eye contact with any of the 4 of us. As she brought another apparent "special friend" party to a table (right past our table) she was holding the hand of a young woman in that party all the way from the front of the restaurant toward the back of the restaurant behind us. We could not get her attention either direction. Also important was how disgusting they kept their work area adjacent to our table, there was a heaping full trashcan, along with a dirty napkin, a used plastic white spoon (why it's cut out of the bottom of the pic near the trash can I don't know) and smashed food on the floor in plain sight to multiple adjacent dining tables. Revolting! My nephew, who led us there was quite embarrassed saying he'd really known the manager well in the past & didn't think a new manager would have such a big disappointing impact. Called in a simple order for a california roll with crab stick. Was told that it would be ready in 15 mins. I arrive there after 20 just to make sure they have enough time. Wasn't ready .I waited an obnoxious THIRTY more minutes on top of that . When I asked how much longer I got "oh I remember your phone call theyret making it now" like I wasn't already waiting for an hour almost. When I finally get it I go to the register to pay and JUST to be sure opened my order. Completely the OPPOSITE of what I ordered . I told them I wanted crab stick in it instead of the crab salad that usually goes in a california roll. They put crab salad and shredded crab all over instead. When I told them this wasn't what I had order some young guy with guages comes over all confrontational saying "you didn't not specify that is what you wanted .This is what you ordered" after explaining my order he realized his mistake and offered to remake it. Unfortunately I did not have another hour to kill so I left. Worst service I've ever had at a sushi restaurant. Never had this problem when it was shika sushi. Go to Sushi on Brand instead. This is hard. I really, really want to give 5 stars to this place, especially since it has some of the best sushi rolls and dishes at some of the best prices in Irvine! Sushi chefs are amazing and fun to watch--sit at the bar if your group size makes that possible!

We have been here a handful of times now--and it continues to be a favorite--but we wish the service level and wait times were more desirable.

We noticed the wait staff increased in number after our first couple visits, resulting in fewer awkward wait times between service. I imagine that will continue to improve as they adjust to the demand here (which is a good problem to have!).

Similarly, though, the wait times to be seated are difficult on weekend nights. It's a small place, understandably, but for a party of three on a Saturday night 7pm, we waited over an hour while everyone else in line after us was seated--because they have plenty of seating for two in the back. It wasn't the first time we had an abnormally long wait, and I don't know what the solution is there but hoping...
