I wish I could give an accurate review of the food but I chose not to buy due to the off putting attitude of the girl at the counter. It was my first time there and I arrived just a couple of minutes before opening time at 7am. I tried the right door but it didn't open, so I figured I'd wait 5 minutes to give them time to set up. When I came back I again tried the right door and it was locked...since there were no other customers I initially thought I might've misread the opening time so stepped back to check the timecard and then looked at the girl all the way across the store behind the counter. She shouted 'IT'S OPEN!' and gestured to come in with an annoyed expression that came across as if she were saying 'what's your problem, dummy?' all without moving from her position at the back. I tried the left door and sure enough it was open. I came inside and went to the pastry display and almost immediately she asked brusquely 'what do you want today?' - all without moving from her position. I thought about it for a second and walked out - I don't need pastries so much that I have to deal with the uncultured attitudes of low rent people for the privilege to pay OC prices for them. Nice way to lose a potential new customer. My advice is, invest in people that have good customer...
Read moreI was very excited to know they opened at my local shopping area. When I first entered the place, I was amazed by the variety of pastries and Sandwiches they offered and after trying many of them for many times I've visited there I can definitely say - THEY ARE GOOD! Really good! But, their service is very slow and very often, no so kind. Their Latte is usually good, depend on the person who makes it but when you look behind the counter, it looks like the staff doesn't work as a team, and nobody manage their priorities. They don't help each other and I believe, that's why the service is slow. It's a shame that they have great products, but their operation is weak. As a business consultant for restaurants I can say that it always starts and ends with management. I would hate to see them go down because of that. They sell really good...
Read moreI have fallen in love with this bakery. I discovered Kouign Amanns when I visited Paris and have tried Kouign Amanns at different bakeries here in the USA, but these are better than we had in Paris!. Up until now we traveled twice a year to San Francisco so we could buy these up and bring them home to put in our freezer. We found that La Boulangerie Alton Square in Irvine, Ca had their grand opening yesterday and is only a little over an hours drive away, saving us the price of airfare and hotel rooms. I contacted Grace the manager who went out of her way to send me the current pictures, menus, and online ordering links. We have placed our online for pickup tomorrow. We are in Kouign...
