Mad Dumplings — Restaurant in Irvine

Amazing service and delicious food!

We got the mac and cheese dumplings, the very vegan dumplings, the waffle fries, and the oreo cheesecake dumplings. Everything was delicious. The food came fast, so we had plenty of time to eat between our classes. The mac and cheese dumplings were delicious not too cheesy. The vegan dumplings tasted pretty normal, as you would expect. The waffle fries were a bit pricey, but we got a very large quantity and they were delicious. Both the mac and cheese dumplings and waffle fries came with a special aioli sauce that complimented them well. The oreo cheesecake dumplings tasted unique, very good, but not something I would always be in the mood for. I recommend you try them out though!

The food seems expensive but the dumplings (especially the mac and cheese ones) were pretty big and filled us up quickly.

The service was spectacular, as it usually is with such a new restaurant. The cashier noticed that we forgot to give ourselves cups of water so he brought it to our table himself.

For the price, I wasn't expecting such a large serving! This was a pleasant surprise, and the actual dish itself tasted really nice. Very refreshing, fried rice was made well, and the sauce that they put on top of the meat was a great compliment to the overall dish.

The meat itself, though, probably could've done with a smidgen more seasoning, and there were some parts of it that were just hard to separate with a fork AND hard to chew, which isn't a great combination for a Bulgogi bowl.

The lychee jasmine green tea was also a tad disappointing. The lychee flavor completely overpowered the jasmine olfactory bits, and even upon opening the cup, I couldn't smell a hint of it. Possibly, the brew was just one that steeped for too long, but regardless. I'll give it another try...

Food: The egg fried rice was a disappointment. Egg was unflavored and in huge chunks, the rice was unflavored and sticky, and a lot of the mushroom was burnt to black. The dumplings were also nasty. Thick skin and oily insides, it is truly is the “mad” dumpling. Service: I ordered dine-in yet my food was given in a plastic box and bag. Atmosphere: Floor was sticky, table was sticky, it was overall pretty nasty. I could tell why there were almost no customers at lunch time.

Overall I do not recommend this place, I would recommend buying frozen dumplings or fried rice and heat...
