ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL!!! Today, Jennifer (the manager) did something that exceeded even these highest expectations! I asked for their Thai Chicke Mango Salad dressing because it was my husband's favorite and I wanted to surprise him at home (I didn't share that he was sick). She just asked how many people and I said 6. Two minutes later, she came back with 2 containers with the dressing, just like that!!!!!! I promised to buy our favorite order now (Peruvian sandwitch and Thai mango salad), because she did not ask for money, but she humbly suggested: "just post a good word for us online". And here I am, singing their praises! Not only is the food here out-of-this-world delicious, but the service is par none! And when I say the food is out-of-this-world delicious I mean it! The Peruvian Stake Sandwitch drips with centuries worth of flavors, culture, sauces, layers of diversity and metamorphosis of aromas, while the Thai Mango Chicken Salad clearly had the author's imagination expload with the most lively ingredients into a dance that can't stop your mouth from chewing and crunching until the last morsel is peacefully asleep on the bottom of your stomach! I encourage you to go through their ENTIRE menue until you find what tickles your senses, just like my hubby and I did some two years ago when UCI recruited him to Irvine and we moved here from St. Louis (before that via Baltimore, via Boston, and via Europe... see, in all these places we have always searched for amazing local food because being a foodie doesn't necessarily mean only white table cloth and stuffy waiters, haha). Bravissimi, Mendocino Farms and Jenny, we love your culture, we love your food and we will keep coming and dragging all our friends, family and...
Read moreIf you’re a minority, you’re better off not eating here. You’re business isn’t welcome. Passive aggressive staff, prefers privileged customers over college students working to make their way in life and I won’t stand for it. Reached out to their customer service and received no response. Maybe they’re too busy writing fake reviews as I’m surprised others haven’t had the same experience.
I consistently eat at other mendocinos, but it seems as if this one has a massive attitude problem. As I walk in, the host makes eye contact with me and doesn’t take my order. Said I had to go to the next associate down the restaurant. I could tell in my gut something didn’t make sense as other people were also waiting in line. How come he would cut the line short right when its my turn? Then he proceeds to go to the back and chat with his coworkers.
As host #2 takes my order, he was being polite at first until I put $0 as a tip. His fake demeanor fell apart really fast. He passive aggressively told me to “have a nice day thank you”. Did you really think you would ever deserve a tip after your first associate didn’t even take my order?
And as if the experience couldn’t get any worse, I saw everyone else with a to go order get handed their food but when it came to mine, they left it out on the table and didn’t even care to let me know my order was ready.
This experience at Mendocino Farms just shows that they prefer their rich and privileged customers over anyone else. They should take a hard look at their service before someone decides to sue them. Did I mention I’m never...
Read moreI've heard about this place numerous times from friends, but finally made my way in for lunch. Co-workers wanted to try something a little further from the office and suggested coming to this lunch, so I went along for the ride. A few people mentioned they had a lot of vegan and healthy options, so I'm always down to try them out.
The menu had so many things I wanted, but I finally settled on the Impossible Taco Salad -- Plant-based chorizo-spiced Impossible Burger meat, housemade superfood krunchies, butter lettuce & romaine, curly kale, black bean, roasted corn & jicama succotash, red onions, cilantro, grape tomatoes, avocado (420 cal) with house vegan cashew chipotle ranch (250 cal). The housemade krunchies are absolutely awesome and added some texture to the salad.
Coworkers also sampled some sides to add with their sandwiches. I really like how they give that option, but I was set on just having the salad. After trying a few items they were on the fence about, they settled on the potato salad and French Green Beans & Drake Farms Feta (GF with shaved fennel, kalamata olives, and toasted almonds in a creamy lemon salsa verde dressing).
It's a little bit of a drive from work, but I wouldn't mind returning here during the weekend or for dinner....
