So, my girlfriend and I decided to embark on a culinary adventure and ended up at Sessions West Coast Deli in Irvine. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smiles warmer than a freshly toasted sandwich. The customer service was top-notch, and we felt like we were dining among friends. Kudos to the staff for making us feel so welcome!
I ordered the tomato soup and tuna melt combo, while my girlfriend opted for the "Groove to the Beet" sandwich. I have to say, the flavors were dancing a tango in our mouths! The tuna melt was perfectly cheesy, and the tomato soup had just the right amount of tanginess. As for the "Groove to the Beet" sandwich, it was a spiral of beet-liciousness. We were beet-ing to the rhythm of this unique creation. The beer tap, sadly, decided to take a vacation that day. It was a real bummer, as we were looking forward to pairing our sandwiches with a refreshing brew. Hey, we can't blame the deli for having a rebellious tap, can we?
The bathroom situation was quite a surprise. It seems like someone mistook the toilet for a modern art canvas, leaving an abstract masterpiece on the seat. Not exactly what I were expecting, but hey, it added a touch of avant-garde to our dining experience. Maybe they were going for a "potty humor" theme?
Speaking of surprises, when it came time to clear our dishes, we found ourselves in a real conundrum. There wasn't a clear indication of where to put our dirty plates and utensils. It was like a game of culinary basketball, with us throwing our dishes into the abyss, hoping they would find their way to the right place. It definitely added a touch of excitement to our meal, wondering where our plates would end up!

Read moreWe happened to stop by on a busy Friday evening “movie night” at the shopping center - big mistake.
We ordered four items. Corn salad, Burger, Sandwich, and Fries.
The corn salad is “top notch.” Expensive, but well executed.
The sandwich (one of the vegetarian versions) was decent - not bad by any means, not a standout either.
The burger was really, really disappointing. I cannot “know” for sure, but I am pretty sure it was two “frozen” pattys… not unlike you’d expect at a school BBQ or a Scout campout. It was not fresh ground. It really made the whole cost/choice a disappointment. Avoid at all cost. Especially when they ask $4 to add avocado (or about as much to add bacon).
Fries - avoid. Poor execution. Bad batter, fryer, Sauce.
We went home and both felt “ill.” As in, “sick to our stomach.” Ugh. Perhaps a hint as to other issues with the venue? Or the menu choices?
Service. The kids (I say “kids” but your typical college age staff) were nice but overwhelmed by the crowd. The four items were all brought out separately - over the course of the 30 minutes we sat and ate, with the fries coming out as we were already done eating and on the verge of leaving/asking for a refund. Trying to be “good sports” we just accept the fries and tried to eat them. We gave up 1/2 way through.
Anyway, can’t justify a return visit for the money. Sorry. Good luck with improving. Hope this helps the business owner with evaluating corrective actions.
Or just stop by for the corn - and that’s all. The corn was spicy and...
Read moreI am utterly disgusted by the reprehensible conduct exhibited by this so-called sandwich restaurant. We organized an event with the owner. Pacific Academy school organized a fundraiser, aiming to support our small school with vital funds. We drove $2500 worth of business. We told friends, family, church members to go to this establishment, as we were promised 20% of the proceeds, which would pay for essential school supplies. How mistaken we were!
Instead of fulfilling their commitment, they resorted to cowardly tactics - ghosting us and refusing to respond to our desperate attempts to contact them. We needed the money and they ignored us.
This is more than a financial matter; it's about principles and integrity. Their despicable behavior paints them as bullies who prey on those they consider inconsequential. The fact that they can so casually disregard their obligation to a small school striving to make a difference speaks volumes about their moral bankruptcy.
It's truly disheartening that a business can stoop so low and treat their community with such disdain. This incident has tainted my perception of the establishment, and I implore everyone to think twice before supporting a business that blatantly disregards its...
