Upon entering the establishment, I was welcomed by an employee who apparently moonlights as a professional eye-roller. Seriously, I thought her eyes were going to detach from her sockets and start a revolution. Maybe they were just practicing for the next Olympic Games? Who knows!
Now, let's talk about the price tag. It seems like this place believes the pizza they serve is made of gold. I had to double-check my wallet to make sure I hadn't accidentally stepped into a high-end jewelry store. Note to Pizza Press: I came for pizza, not a priceless heirloom. To make matters worse, the place seemed to be running on a skeleton crew. It felt like I was on a treasure hunt to find an available staff member. Maybe they were playing hide-and-seek or they had mastered the art of invisibility? Either way, it was an adventure in itself just to place an order.
Now, onto the pizza itself. Picture this: a crust so puffy and airy, it could double as a flotation device. I half-expected it to float away from my plate and into the sky like a pizza-shaped hot air balloon. Kudos for creativity, but I prefer my crust to be a bit more down-to-earth, thank you very much!
But wait, there's more! The taste was... drumroll, please... average! It didn't rock my taste buds or transport me to a pizza paradise. It was just your run-of-the-mill pizza, nothing to write home about. I guess the excitement was reserved for the eye-rolling Olympics and the floating crust phenomenon.
Pizza Press, I have some advice for you. Please hire adults who take their job seriously. A little professionalism and a smile can go a long way. Oh, and while you're at it, maybe rein in the puffy crust extravaganza and focus on delivering exceptional flavors. So, if you're in the mood for eye-rolling encounters, overpriced adventures, and pizza crusts that defy gravity, Pizza Press in Woodbridge, Irvine, is the place for you. As for me, I'll be searching for a pizza joint where the staff keeps their eyes in check and the crust stays firmly grounded on my plate. Bon appétit, my fellow pizza...
Read moreThe Pizza Press offers a MOD-like experience, but at a higher price point, with lower-quality food and less enthusiastic service. The ordering process and setup are confusing, and the assembly process is disorganized. While some staff members are friendly and approachable, others are not. Considering these factors, the menu items, such as chicken, wings, and beer, feel excessively expensive. Overall, the experience left me feeling sad.
The following changes would have improved my experience. Signs to show where to order and stand in line to reduce confusion between customers and staff. Larger font size on the menu to make menu items legible and easy to read. Label the pizzas with customer names and the items they ordered to create a warmer customer experience, minimize the risk of miscommunication between staff members, and prevent customers from having to repeat their orders multiple times. If it’s not feasible to lower prices, implement a customer loyalty program with rewards, promotions, and occasional discounts. Avoid asking customers if they’re ordering gluten-free crust due to a food allergy or dietary preference. Simply change the gloves regardless instead of putting your customers in an...
Read moreFounded in 2012 and with locations nationwide, The Pizza Press wants you to "be newsworthy" by creating your own custom pizza/wings or selecting a signature pizza/salad and pairing with one of the many craft beers on tap. The restaurant theme is inspired by 1920s Americana newspaper which explains why their signature pizzas have names like "The Times" and "The Tribune".
We visited the Woodbridge location off Barranca Parkway for dinner after catching a movie at the AMC next door. The restaurant was busy and looked to be popular among local teenagers and families. There's also a playground conveniently located outside. We ordered the Publish Your Own (PYO) Pizza and topped it with fresh and premium ingredients like spicy red sauce, minced garlic, mozzarella, pepperoni, smoked ham, bacon, meatballs, mushrooms and jalapeños. Service was friendly and efficient. If you're a fan of the 'build your own pizza' concept and you've never been before, then it's time to check out The...
