What a refreshing addition to Diamond Jamboree! The interior space is beautifully designed with that minimalistic aesthetic paired with natural textures/elements. Lots of clean lines and natural light flowing in the airy space.
Seating is limited, but they have options for indoor and outdoor seating. We arrived mid-afternoon so the wait was minimal. They do have somebody at the door to assist with waitlist, so you're not left hanging.
If you choose to dine-in, it's self service. You place your order and then pick up when ready. Menus are located right by the cash wrap, so I recommended browsing in advance and knowing what you want since menu visibility is limited. For us, we looked at Yelp photos of the menu to narrow down our options rather than crowd around the cashier lol.
We decided to go with the Earl Grey Bingsoo to pair with the Black Seasme Injeolmi Toast. The shave ice was incredibly fine in texture and the earl grey flavor was subtle. It had a whipped cheese cream topping and graham cracker crumbs.
The toast was a nice balance of crispy crust and chewy center. The black sesame here was very light as well and actually goes great with the shave ice.
With just a few weeks from their opening date, they still have some kinks to work through. There was a small mix up on our order where they made black sesame shave ice instead of a toast, but they didn't communicate when it would be remade since they took our notification buzzer. We had to keep our eyes peeled and ask if the one that was on the counter was ours or not.
Additionally, they have a section toward the back to drop off trays, but all the shelves were full. I had to make space since it didn't seem like this was paid much attention to.
Overall though, I am excited to come back and try more flavors. Especially as the season heats up, I'm sure people will flock here...
Read moreThey had great bingsoo. It would be extra amazing if it was extra smooth but other than that it was still delicious. I ordered the Injeolmi which is basically a rice cake with roasted soybean flour on top and in between the layers of the Bingsoo. I like how they added the rice cake on the top instead of just using that name for the flavor. I would definitely come back to get the green tea one because I think I'd probably prefer those flavors. Anyway on top of my Bingsoo it had almonds and I'm sure you can ask to take it out if you are allergic to nuts or don't prefer them. I don't prefer almonds either but unfortunately the menu didn't have any details on what would be on top which is really the only downside. Also it's not too big in there so many 4 or 5 people and less than that is probably better than bringing a group of 6 or more people. Anyway I'll probably add on to this review once I come back to that dessert place and try another flavor. Honestly I hope they can bring this to Orange. I think this dessert place would do well in Orange. Can't wait if they have more locations...
Read moreCan I just say how excited I am to have a proper bingsoo place closer to me in the OC?! Used to drive out to Buena Park just to enjoy this amazing treat. This location in my opinion is perfect! On the corner of the stores facing Jamboree, they have both indoor seating and outside dining. They have menus inside or you can use your phone to pull it up on your phone. Prices are really decent. Less than $15 for a cool dessert that feeds two! I decided on green tea this visit and will save sesame for the next time.
From ordering to pickup, it was less than 10 minutes. Service is prompt and quick! I like the clean decor, that they keep their two restrooms tidy and well-stocked, plus the cafe style tables are really comfortable.
If you get chilly, they have seating outside in the sun that will toast you right up. If you're a coffee lover, they also serve organic coffee...
