Terrible Experience â Rude Staff, Reheated Food, No Respect for Customers, Disrespected and Served Questionable Food đ¤Śđźââď¸đ¤ˇđźââď¸
𼣠Soup = Soy Sauce + Cool Water Dry Manchurian = Soggy, Half-Cooked Mess Ask for a replacement?= They just reheat and bring the same thing back. đđ¤Łđ¤ˇđźââď¸đ¤Śđźââď¸
As a regular customer at Simply South in Irving, Iâm heartbroken and outraged by how I was treated during my recent visit. What happened was not just disappointing. It was humiliating, frustrating, and completely unacceptable for any restaurant that claims to care about its customers.
I ordered soup and clearly told the lady who takes table orders multiple times that I wanted it very hot. But what arrived was barely warm and showed up in under a minute, which made me feel like it was a canceled or leftover order handed over to us without care.
A few minutes later, I saw another bowl of the same soup being served at my table. This one was fresh, steaming hot, and exactly what I had asked for. But before we could even get it, they took it back, saying it wasnât for us. I politely asked if we could be served that instead, even offering to pay extra just to get a proper, fresh soup.
What happened next was appalling. The staff were rude and dismissive. As if my simple request for hot food was a burden. Eventually, they agreed to replace the soup and charge me again. But instead of bringing something fresh, they reheated the same soup I had already tasted and served it back to me. Thatâs not just bad service. Itâs a serious food safety issue.
When I calmly questioned this, a man who claimed to be the manager came to my table and started yelling at me in front of other customers. He said I shouldnât question their service or talk about food safety rules. I was shocked. All I asked for was hot, fresh food? and for that, I was scolded and humiliated. This is how loyal customers are treated?
The soup was so poor that none of my friends could finish it. I even have photos to show how bad it looked.
And the problems didnât stop there. We also ordered dry veg Manchurian and specifically asked for it to be dry and well-cooked. Instead, what came out was wet, soggy, half-cooked, and covered in an odd semi-gravy. We politely pointed this out, but again, the staff refused to listen, ignored our concerns, and still charged us for it. Itâs frustrating and honestly disrespectful to be treated this way when weâre paying for the food.
This entire experience shattered my trust in Simply South. If a restaurant can serve returned food, ignore specific requests, and yell at customers for simply expecting basic service, then something is seriously wrong with their values and operations.
I urge anyone reading this to think twice before dining here. No one deserves to be treated this way. Not for their money, not for their loyalty, not for simply...
Read moreWe went with great expectations. The ratings were high. The NY Times listing was an added plus. Reservations were made ahead of time and our table was prepared for our party of 10 for 7 pm on a Sunday. Many people were waiting outside to get in. The ambience is probably the best Iâve seen for an Indian restaurant. The menu had great offerings and we made our choices. However hereâs what happened.
Appetizers were ordered (gobi Manchurian) but the first item that showed up on the table was a MALABAR POROTTA!
Items came in bits and pieces with no rhyme or reason and the servers had no clue as to âwhatâ we ordered.
One bottle of water was placed for the entire table and not a single time was the water re-filled!
We ordered two more porottas and the first one came in about 20 minutes but the second one (why would two of one would delay that much time?) came about 10-15 minutes after the first one came. By this time, my sonâs appetite was gone and he was disgusted. So, politely my son told the server that he didnât want the porotta any more. The server called the manager and he outrightly started âarguingâ with my son. He said, âevery order takes about 20 minutesâ. However, when my son asked for the order timing to be checked, they quickly recanted the argument because it was over 35 minutes! The saddest part was that instead of turning to the âcustomerâ the manager turned to the âserverâ but he never bothered to come back to us and even say a âsorryâ! Never did he look back at our table again.
Also, the Manager and the server were wearing long sleeved hoodies which is not a professional attire especially in handling food..
I saw a 70mm dosa while being brought in touched the edges of the walls but the server brought it to the customer nevertheless.
The servers appear to be very stressed in this place. Either they are untrained or they have too much on their âplateâ. Let me compare this restaurant to âagasâ in Houston which serves almost 5 times the number of customers there. Iâve been there almost 10 plus times but Iâve never had a similar experience. The servers efficiently serve at all times.
Why wouldnât Indian restaurants learn how to serve? The order of serving food? When a family orders food, bring appetizers first, and bring the food items ordered together. We had no clue as to what was going to be served when!
So, for a place so hyped up, the experience was very poor. Again, food and ambience were good. I wish they will change their...
Read moreNew Kid on the Block in Irving Simply South is a new restaurant in Irving that has been attracting a lot of crowds lately. I attempted to visit this place with my family at 12 PM on a Saturday, but was told there was a 1 hour wait time, even though 3-4 tables appeared to be vacant but reserved online. Disappointed, I took my family elsewhere. However, I was determined to find out what all the hype was about. I made a second attempt on a weekday with a few colleagues. This time, their online reservation system allowed me to enroll in an online waitlist, which was an improvement. At least they gave me the option to wait rather than being denied a table outright. However, when I arrived on time, there were still a few vacant tables, and I was asked to wait an additional 15-20 minutes. We tried their Lunch Thali, which included poori, paneer butter masala, veg kuruma, sambar, rasam, rice, small portions of lemon rice, curd rice, ladies finger/peanut fry (Andhra style), dal with greens, 1 sweet, 1 payasam and appalam. The sambar was average, lacking the rich flavor of vegetables that one would expect. The rasam was similarly underwhelming. The pooris had the traditional puff to them, but the accompaniments were merely average. The curd rice was sweet and milky, lacking the tanginess typically associated with this dish. One of my three companions enjoyed the curd rice, but when he requested an extra portion, his request was denied. The veg kuruma was also average. The service left something to be desired. We ordered coffee at the end of our meal and waited patiently. More than one staff member came by to inquire why we were still seated with soiled plates in front of us, requiring us to remind them that we were still waiting for our coffee. The coffee, at least, was good - in fact, it was the one thing all three of us enjoyed. Overall, if you're looking for a satisfying South Indian Thali during your lunch break, Simply South may not be the best choice. The long wait times, average food, and lackluster service detract from the overall experience. I plan to return another day to sample their Tiffin and see if that...
