I loved old vitos and was hesitant to give the new place a try because expansion usually leads to changes that were the key to the success before. Vitos was the first place i went when i moved to irving 17 years ago. Chicken artichoke and mushroom alfredo pizza and chicken piccata were the staple. I remember the old pizza place salads that were just like a lump of lettuce and tomatoes and ranch dressing that were hot because it sat under the hot foods.. but still managed to be delicious. Now they charge 3 bucks for a salad that came with the meal. But this isnt about the price, they quality is different.
First let me say, this place needs to take steak off the menu until u get quality meat or cooks who understand how to season and cook it. Ordered the ribeye for 27 dollars medium rare. The steak was so over cooked i feel like it was cooked, put in the microwave, then back on the grill until u could physically see the soul of the cow leave it. Even for take out they should know that when cooking medium rare to around 130 degrees it should be taken off because it will cook more as it rests. 30 bucks wasted on something comparable to an IHOP steak.
Something in the veggie quality is off but i cant quite put my finger on it. Before the piccata was just a bowl with pasta , sauce with capers and two or three chicken breasts and it was delicious. Now they add very over cooked veggie mush on the side/top of the dish to go and ruin the flavor.
Asparagus way over cooked with the lobster ravioli. Very light handed on the garlic spread on the bread.. very bland.
Salt or more flavor is missing from the classics but the bones of how great it use to be is still there.
POSITIVES: Portions are still the best anywhere in town, the food was scorching hot even after drive home, and the young man at the take out counter,(seemed like a highschool kid) was very sweet even though u could tell he was new.
Vitos still is a decent place for pizza (Stromboli = massive and good)but i wont be dropping 100 + dollars here for a while after this last visit left me knowing i should have just kept the good memories from...
Read moreI’ve been going to this place for years intermittently and the food and service has been consistently superb. First, a little background on Vitos…yes, there was an original Vitos (approx 30 years) and this is where Toni the present owner worked for him and as the story goes, he’s kept the same recipes and the same locale in Irving (the original Vitos was right across the street) and the present location has been used for the last 5 years. During Covid, Toni, kept his workers employed- even out of his own pocket, so the loyalty is evident. The employees at Vito’s are incredibly helpful, informative, and prompt when it comes to service and knowledgeable about their product offerings. The Venue is consistently clean and consistently busy due to the great food. The food quality is excellent, I normally have the Angel hair pasta pomodoro with added chicken on top. I usually have a side salad (I ask for onions) and it comes with tomatoes and a side of ranch dressing. As previously mentioned the Service-Product knowledge is exceptional. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms are tidy. Only once have I mentioned the bathroom needed attention and it was immediately attended to. Price Value is inline with $25/person +/-$3. I don’t have alcohol with my meals so there will be a higher price point if you so desire. Overall it is 5 out 5. I recommend you visit during slow hours because during lunch/dinner hours there may be a wait...
Read moreThis was my first time here. I absolutely loved it! The staff were friendly upon entering, getting us seated, having patience with taking our order and the manager was awesome as well. Our appetizer was the calamari which was absolutely delectable! For my entree, I ordered the Pasta Primavera with chicken and my friend ordered fettuccine Alfredo. Both plated with effort and large portions. I really do appreciate that the veggies still have a bit of crunch to them which means this restaurant does not cook those nutrients out of your food and the consistency/texture is perfect! The chicken was grilled, sliced with the grain, seasoned well, tender and MOIST! We love a good cook. It did take some time for our waiter to get back to take our order, we got someone else’s attention because this was definitely a busy place and we respect that sometimes it can be a challenge to work in all that rush. Our waiter was nice though! I commend the manager for making a team effort and taking our order. She was definitely kind for that. We love when we see community supporting each other, it gives the restaurant a better atmosphere. The food was great The service was great -TEAM EFFORT MAKES A PLACE RUN SMOOTHLY
I will definitely be coming back here again and again.
Oh! And they gave us delicious garlic bread to go with our entrees! Absolutely...
