Remarks - Please put a notice for brothers, mandate them to take morning shower and apply perfume before joining (NOT after leaving) the congregation. Penalize them with $5.00 fine (if necessary) lol. The brothers have to acknowledge that they are driving people away from the masjid. That is not equal to gaining closeness to God. Put Bakhoor incense (or something) on high setting at Fajr to neutralize the odor of Indian spices. Frankly, it is very repulsive. It has earned this masjid the name "The Fajr Spice Humidor". Brothers!!! Administrators!!! Please do something! Bakhouuurrr!!! Please. I am a visitor. I feel for the resident brothers who stop for Fajr. It's absolute torture.
Wash area - Clean but still with some interesting challenges. Firstly, Innovative use of Naphthalene moth balls to deodorize & sanitize the lavatories is an impressive innovation but this chemical should NOT be installed in areas accessible to kids. Please re-position these high up on the walls. It's for mold prevention, not a good strategy in areas frequented my kids; It should be used in low doses and made inaccessible to kids. Use Fabulosa & Lysol to disinfect the carpets in the Wash area once or twice a day. These chemicals are inexpensive and keep the air & the carpets clean.
Secondly, the Wash (WUDU) area and the PRAYER area is interrupted by a walkway. Reduce the size of this walk way by extending the carpet and installing a split barricade. The idea of taking off your shoes far away from the prayer room and making people walk barefooted on areas trampled by others (especially school kids) is absurd. Plus the carpets in the prayer area become filters of all the dirt from shoes. Remember that people put there faces on the ground in the prayer area. These worshipers are exposed to all sorts of germs pooled into the prayer area rugs from the interrupting shoe walkway. There is wisdom in having the shoes stationed near the prayer area without a shoe walkway interruption. Ideally, the prayer carpets should not be more than 1.5 feet area from the stepping carpet outside the prayer room. Stay clean & filth free, our shoes collect germs from everywhere, these should NOT be worn into houses and the prayer rooms...this way people, you stay close to cleanliness and health. Please.
Open a Halal 7/11 outlet...lol. A halal store that is open 24/7 in the masjid so that people visiting for tahajud are not prevented from praying. Encourage 24/7 parking, it is a sign of life and a source of religious and socioeconomic contact. It is not a "security risk" if you have a 7/11 & security cameras installed. Don't stop people from praying Tahajjud because of "security concerns" - that's unacceptable.
Encourage Monday & Thursday Iftars. This is a source of Dawa'a & community education. Invite your non-muslim friends over Post-Fast (Iftar) Dinners and educate them on real Islamic lifestyle and eliminate misconceptions through discussions & scholarly talks during weekly Iftar Dinners.
This community has a lovely spirit... it just needs few finishing touches. (1.) No more Fajr Spicy Humidors (2.) Eliminate interruption between the Washroom and the Prayer Area. How? Install Shoe racks 1.5 feet from the outer prayer room carpet (3.) 24/7 parking and prayer access (4.) Com'on!!! You all eat by yourself every night. How about gathering together and having a community dinner every Monday & Thursday? Let's make...

Introduction: Stepping into an American mosque is like embarking on a journey of cultural immersion and spiritual enlightenment. As a testament to the rich tapestry of Islamic heritage and its integration into the American fabric, these mosques serve as profound symbols of faith, diversity, and unity. Having had the privilege of visiting several American mosques, I am in awe of their welcoming atmosphere, architectural grandeur, and their profound impact on local communities.
Architectural Marvels: American mosques are architectural marvels that seamlessly blend traditional Islamic design elements with contemporary aesthetics. From the soaring minarets and intricately adorned domes to the intricately crafted calligraphy and geometric patterns, every corner exudes beauty and serenity. These architectural wonders stand tall, symbolizing the enduring strength and resilience of Islam in America.
Inclusive and Welcoming Communities: One of the most remarkable aspects of American mosques is the spirit of inclusivity and acceptance they foster. They serve as open doors, embracing people from diverse backgrounds, irrespective of race, ethnicity, or social status. The friendly smiles and warm greetings from the community members create an atmosphere of unity, breaking down barriers and forging lifelong friendships. American mosques have become catalysts for interfaith dialogue, fostering understanding and harmony among people of different religious beliefs.
Education and Outreach: Education is at the core of American mosques. Many offer programs and classes to nurture the intellectual and spiritual growth of their community members. From Quranic studies and Islamic history to social justice initiatives and interfaith workshops, these mosques are vibrant centers of knowledge and learning. Additionally, they organize outreach programs that extend a helping hand to the less fortunate, exemplifying the values of compassion and service ingrained in Islam.
Empowering Women: American mosques are increasingly emphasizing the importance of gender equality and women's empowerment. They provide dedicated spaces and platforms for women to actively participate in the religious and social aspects of mosque life. Women's leadership programs, educational initiatives, and advocacy for women's rights are just a few examples of the progressive approach these mosques take towards gender inclusivity.
Interfaith Cooperation: American mosques play a vital role in promoting interfaith cooperation and understanding. Through hosting interfaith events, participating in community service projects, and engaging in dialogue with people of different faiths, they create opportunities for mutual respect and collaboration. These efforts contribute to the larger goal of building bridges and breaking down stereotypes, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society.
Conclusion: American mosques are beacons of light and pillars of strength, embodying the principles of faith, diversity, and unity. Their breathtaking architecture, welcoming communities, educational initiatives, and interfaith cooperation make them vibrant and transformative spaces. As we continue to strive for a more inclusive society, American mosques serve as powerful examples of how faith can be a unifying force, transcending boundaries and fostering harmony among diverse...
Read moreIslamic center with no Islamic ethics from the Admin, Nordean, and the Somalian Imam. We had a marriage appointment, we booked that appointment online but we didn’t get any confirmation. We tried reaching out to the Admin through emails and calls but there was no response. Eventually, we had to drive 40 miles to the masjid, a day before our appointment to get a confirmation. We arrived at the masjid and there was nobody at the reception, we had to wait more than an hour to be able see the Admin and get the confirmation. On the appointment day, we arrived at the masjid 30 minutes before the appointment time just in case. The Somalian Imam came to my fiancé and her mom and started talking rude with them, he said that we were late, even though we were 30 minutes early!!!! After we finished the process, they (the admin and imam) refused to send our paperwork to the county office, they asked us to send them by ourselves. All of this was not free, we had to pay $250 to the masjid to make...
