TLDR: Insanely long wait, level 10 (out of 10) rude service. Details: Stopped into this bagel shop on a Monday after trying another that was closed. Walked into the store with the family, stood directly in front of cashier who did everything but acknowledge we were in the store. Had to ask if we were in the right place to order (yes), then had to ask again after more silence if we should start placing the order. We asked for a blueberry muffin, were told there were none, started to ask if there were any other muffins, but got cut off mid sentence and were told they only have blueberry. We then asked for a plain bagel. We were told there were none. Started to look at the menu for other options when the cashier said they were baking and would be ready in a little while. We asked how long she thought it would be and we were told we "could not rush the process." Asked again, this time more specifically about not rushing the process, but trying to understand how long the remainder of the process would take. We were told 10 minutes. We ordered.
It took 50 minutes to get food. In that time, we noticed 3 other customers leave genuinely angry. One was kinda humorous although not trying to be, yelling on her way out "it's a plain bagel with cream cheese!". The only productive thing the cashier did was redo the dry erase board saying there could be a 20-25 minute wait when busy, as if this disclaimer excused the 40 to 50 minute waits we were experiencing with almost no customers. The cashier's attitude seemed to change when the owner called and said she was on her way into the store. We got our food and had to leave before the owner got there and missed the chance to leave this message in person.
The kitchen staff apologized for every order they brought out. They seemed nice enough but it was obvious they were in over their heads.
The food was decent, (although my family's impression was so tainted by the experience that they would not recognize this). The bagels could have been toasted more but overall average to slightly above average if the wait could be cut to a fraction of the time (as in no bagel is worth the wait we experienced).
In summary, this business is experiencing both front of the house issues with customer service, and back of the house issues completing orders in a timely manner (how hard is it to fast track a toasted bagel?), and both are clearly results of poor management, poor processes and lack of...
Read moreMe and my wife stopped over for breakfast on the way to the Airport. We had a horrible experience. It would not be possible to get our 2 orders more wrong if they tried!!!
I asked for Lox with little cream cheese and tomatoes on a WELL toasted bagel with the insides taken out. My wife asked for a well toasted bagel with Eggs and a slice of Swiss cheese and tomatoes. I asked for a breakfast tea and my wife asked for a Chamomile tea. This order cost us $29!!
I received a warmed up bagel that was just cut in half with almost 2 inches of cream cheese. My wife received a warmed up bagel with eggs, Bacon and American cheese. Plus she got a regular breakfast tea.
The guy at the counter was very courteous and friendly to his credit. He offered to remake our bagels again the correct way. I declined. My wife asked to change instead to a basic well toasted bagel with LITTLE cream cheese. After waiting for 10 minutes, she received a slightly toasted bagel with 2-3 inches of cream cheese!!!
As for our 2 breakfast teas, he stated that they didn’t have chamomile and thus decided to just give her the breakfast tea.
Despite all the mistakes, we were not offered any sort of refund or discounts. Not even a refund for the difference in price of my wife’s order which she downgraded to a basic bagel cream cheese.
The name of this bagel shop had us amused for a while till we learned that they mean it...
Read moreLet me start by saying the bagel sandwiches I got were great! Made well and tasted perfect. However the low stars were because of the lady working there. She looked a lot like the owner (I saw a picture of her in a newspaper article clipping hanging in the restaurant). So if she really is the owner, she needs to step up her costumer service. From the minute I walked in I felt on eggshells, she stood behind the cash register the entire time I was in there, and didn't greet me or say 'welcome in' 'what can I get you' etc. Instead, my bubbly self said, 'Hi, I'm here to pick up an online order', she asked my name, checked in the back and told me they were almost done with it....she went back to standing behind the register. Another customer came in, and after seeing the few people waiting for their orders said in his cheerful voice 'I guess this is where the line is' and stepped up to the register. The lady barely cracked a half smile (smirk), didn't greet him, nothing! He says 'good morning' to her and she doesn't even say good morning back! So unfriendly! I didn't like that at all.
We got our order and got back on the road. I'm just going to assume the name of the place is a reflection of the lady's demeanor and attitude. Go here for good bagels, not for the service, order ahead so you don't have to deal...
