Great store! The moment we walked in we were greeted by two of the most personable staff Iâve had the pleasure to meet in a long time. We discussed becoming club members and opened an account and started shopping. We went straight to the fishing poles and once again was greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable young man who helped us pick out a Penn pole and reel as a Christmas gift. We continued to shop and enjoy ourselves in this wonderful store. It was such an enjoyable experience until we were ready to checkout. It went from enjoyable to a frustrating disappointment. It was like they ran out of nice employees and this was the only one left to work the register. This man was rude, condescending, unfriendly and literally acted like he couldnât care less. My husband was trying to type in a lengthy code from the account we just opened to get our discount and it was not going thru. The employee condescendingly says âYou have to push the enter button.â He says this twice to my husband. My husband said âI didâ. The employeeâs condescending attitude began to irritate my husband who finally told this employee âYou do it.â I went to the front of the store to seek help from the two other employees who had signed us up. They were ready to assist in informing this man of the discounts available. Folks, Iâve done my fair share of business in my 60+ years on the planet and over 40+ years as a Registered Nurse so Iâve dealt with a variety of personalities but this man has to be one of the worst experiences weâve ever had in a store. His behavior was appallingly inappropriately rude towards us. I donât understand how you can encounter so many nice, smiling and helpful employees then hit the proverbial brick wall on the way out the door. I am surprised heâs allowed to interact with the customers. We spoke with the manager who was friendly and listened attentively to our experience and assured us he would look into it. We will be returning to this store to receive additional discounts for opening an account. It will be interesting to see if this individualâs attitude has improved. Heâs the only reason this review did not...
Read moreWe had a great offshore day catching blackfin tuna, sailfish, dolphin, and king mackerel on our honeymoon. We went out of Bud N Maryâs Marina and really wanted to swing by the store on our way back to marathon. We ended up short on time after our charter, so we made a special drive back up from marathon the next day just to visit Bass Pro Shops. Wonât visit again.
The store itself was great, the people not so much. We got some flats gear to target cudas and yellow jacks off our resort beach. I needed some fly line backing spooled, but nobody was there to assist. We had a lot of questions about public accessibility on foot, but nobody took the time to answer our questions (even when we tried to stop a few employees).
After purchasing lures in the shop, we went out back to visit with the guides and see the baby tarpon cruising the marina. A few of the well known, older captains made our experience really terrible. They were unquestionably annoyed that non-islanders wanted to chat with them and all of them were extremely arrogant. It was bad enough my wife even said something as we got back in the car, and sheâs about as tolerant as anyone Iâve ever met.
To get my fly line backing spooled up, we decided to take a last minute trip over to the local fly shop (Florida Keys Outfitters), not far from Bass Pro Shops. Exceptional customer service at the locally owned store and I even ended up buying a new Tibor Everglades after chatting with their staff. The staff also provided me with public access areas for flats wading and it made for a great experience. They answered all our questions. We went out the next day and caught a bunch of mangrove snappers, grunts, yellow jacks, and cudas on fly and conventional tackle. Save yourself a trip to Bass Pro Shops and go hit up the folks at Florida Keys Outfitters.
We also appreciated the information from the folks at Two Conchs. They were our day to day resource on marathon and we got to know them well over our two week trip. Their knowledge helped us catch a bunch of inshore species right off the...
Read moreBecause of my bad experience at the Sun Glass Hut (inside of Bass Pro Shop), I asked to speak to the manager of the Bass Pro Shop. The Manager Stephen Jones was great. He explained that the SunGlass Hut and Bass Proshops are seperate. After a short chat with him, although he did not have to, he gave me a gift card for the full amount of the purchase for the glasses, which is more than I would have expected. I used that gift card of $60.00 and purchase $750.00 worth of boating supplies yesterday. Stephen did the right thing and kept me as a loyal Bass Pro Shop Client for life.
Here is the story of why I will never purchase glasses from Sunglass Hut. I purchase a pair of sunglasses. The sales person told me that I the glasses had a warranty. The glasses fell apart within 9 months of having purchased them. When I went into the store to exchange them I was informed that I needed the original receipt. They advised that they were unable to look up the receipt in their system, because the system only goes back 6 months. How convienent. I should have save the original receipt, but in 2022, I would expect any store to save records for at least one year, especially with my Bass Pro Shop Rewards Number. The sales rep offer no concessions at all. At the very least, they could have offered a discount on the next purchase. I would have been happy with a 10& discount. I spoke to the SunGlass Hut manager and she sounded like a broken record. "sorry that is our company policy". I told her that her lack of willingness to work something out would cost her a customer for life. She...
