So this was my first trip to the Florida keys. I brought my daughter down to fish for her tenth birthday all she wanted to do is catch Mahi. So we loaded up the boat and came to islamorada. Once we arrived we visited a few local marinas where we experienced serious charter captain locals only attitudes. Noone wanted to help us find a local boat launch or help with bait or any advice. After several hours of driving around and asking for advice we stopped at world wide sportsman Bayside, where I noticed they had a marina so I asked customer service if they rented slips by the week. He replied yes where he asked Miles to help me. Miles who had his yeti cup and lunch pale in hand was leaving for the day as the store was closing. Told me that the marina normally handles slip rentals but he offered to help. After we looked at the spot Miles said we can take care of you so you can be on the water at first light for your daughter's birthday. At this time I was in the middle of having a very frustrating and stressful day but Miles came to the rescue and went above and beyond to help. I cannot say thank you enough Miles. Read moreLet’s get the unpleasant stuff out of the way first: you will pay full retail just about everything here. There is some heavy pressure as soon as you walk in to open a credit card or sign up for some promotion. Get past all that and you’re good.
You will need to plan your trip to spend enough time to get through all of the different areas of this fisherman’s paradise. There’s plenty to see including a ship and fish in a tank. If you’re an angler and don’t have it, you prolly don’t need it. The folks are friendly and are glad you were there. Parking can be tough but be patient and you will find a spot.
