We stopped by for an açaí bowl and ended up leaving with full hearts! The bowl itself was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, vibrant, and nothing about it tasted processed. Every ingredient felt hand-picked and packed with flavor. It was easily one of the best açaí bowls we’ve ever had.

But what really stood out was the owner. She was so kind and welcoming, taking the time to talk with us, share her story, and explain the heart behind the business. We learned that this isn’t just a place to grab healthy food, it’s a nonprofit with a mission. Profits go toward supporting children with Down syndrome and other important causes, and you can feel that purpose in everything they do.

We stumbled upon Key Roots in Islamorada and couldn’t have been happier! Everything here is all-natural and made with care. I had the açaí bowl and it was absolutely excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

We brought the whole family, and everyone loved the atmosphere. Even better, they were open on the 4th of July, and we got the chance to meet the owner, Maria. She’s fantastic — incredibly sweet and welcoming. She shared the story of how she came to the Keys from Italy and built this little oasis. You can feel the heart and soul she’s poured into the place.

As someone who’s favorite food is acai, and as someone who has worked at an acai bowl shop, the acai bowl/smoothie bowl is officially the worst i’ve ever had. i can assure you there was no acai, and it was in fact only berries. In addition it was a melting mess and the presentation looked like dog food. Another note- don’t come here unless you want to drop your life savings. I added peanut butter to my bowl and got the tiniest drop ever for TWO dollars. I also broke my spoon while eating because it was such bad quality and when i asked if i could have a new spoon i was rudely denied and told a disposable spoon is $2! very very sad place… i was so excited because of the...
