Another impromptu decision on where to have dinner! We found ourselves arriving on a Friday right at 5 o'clock,.though we had called ahead to find out about the wait. "No wait," for a table of 2 anyway. Cool. Walked in. Greeted promptly. Offered happy hour seating in bar area but decided on main dining room. Sat at one of those counter top height tables, but the chairs were padded so they were actually comfortable, even with an arthritic hip situation. They do have regular tables, and even have high chairs for any kiddies in tow. We started with ice water, had some iced tea and a cocktail, then ordered a cheese plate that promised cheese, crackers and a little fruit jam. Okay. We got that. The cheese was decent but the crackers were sad broken bits, a handful at that, with no special array or garnish. Ahem. The meal though. There is where this place did a solid. The filet arrived perfectly cooked, nestled on a bed of mashed potatoes and a careful array of asparagus. The flat iron steak atop an interesting interpretation of polenta with salsa-ish garnish was less lovely, more rustic. Now taste. Flavorful and not needing any salt - rather a good, pleasant taste. Happy surprise! Why only 4 stars? The appetizer seemed like a careless, vague thing, unworthy of being on the menu when the entrees are quite nice. The temperature inside the place was hot, hot, even though an air con unit was visible but apparently unused on this 90 degree day. On the plus side, though, staff seems well trained and without any bias toward the variety of customers. And, bonus! They do have shaded or sunny areas on their outdoor patio. All in all, a nice place.

We used to go there once or twice a month as you can eat well with a good bottle of wine at a good price point. They have a bar with an excellent services and a cute, romantic small sitting area available to dine without reservation. So best is to make a reservation in the main room but if a bar table is available, then we sit there. Food is good and well priced. The wine list has good selection at the lower end of the price list(Mark Ryan, De Lille, etc…). They have changed the menu over the years with some items staying there consistently ( like the stuffed dates). We do miss the truffle fries with were really good. The flank steak is a good well priced option. Lately, the restaurant hasn't been attracting much people. It would be nice for them to refresh a bit the main room. In summer, it is great as they have a big terrace and the area, Gilman village is great. However, overall the setting both inside (main room) and out needs a refresh to create a better ambiance, atmosphere. It feels as if the leadership lost focus on this one and put everything on their other properties. Also, last time we came, there was only couple people in the restaurant and when we came without reservation at 7PM, they told us they were closing early due to lack of people.

My wife and I use to greatly enjoy coming here and would often recommend it to family and friends. We dined here last year and the experience was fine, but 2 days ago we brought my parents here and have decided not to come back.

Summary: For the price it isn't worth it anymore. No apology from server. No reduced price from the issues we experienced. Its really not about the money.. we just didn't feel respected for what we were paying.

The service started off okay with the usual drink order and appetizers, but when it came to the dinner, we were left disappointed. -We waited for over 30 mins after appetizer plates were removed before dinner started even coming. One daughter ordered a filet mignon medium well and it came out medium rare. When addressed, the server took her plate to correct it with no apology. She also ordered garlic fries but they came out as regular fries. When addressed, the server brought her a bowl of whole roasted garlic and herbs, to mix her own garlic fries, again no apology. Additionally the server forgot our other daughter's salad (it's the only thing she ordered). My wife wanted the polenta side rather than the mashed potatoes. She received mashed potatoes. Same thing as above.. no apology. Polenta was brought out separately. The food was also served luke warm. The Brussels sprouts were luke warm, and were not crispy as advertised or fully cooked. The broccolini and asparagus were very "woody," and not soft. The food was average. This was the type of place where in the past, I would pause in delight while eating my dinner. I ordered a crab stuffed halibut and it wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't blow me away. -Our server forgot to check in on us, forgot drink refills that we had ordered.

At the end of it all, we at least hoped for an apology, a reduced cost or a free app to appease our frustrations. But nothing at all.

That was the last time we will be coming here. Very disappointing considering my parents flew across the states and I wanted to show them "great dining." Instead, we would have been better off going to Red Robin...

Visited for Mother’s Day dinner. Walked in stood by the podium then eventually sat down in the waiting area. 4 or 5 minutes later we were eventually asked if we had been helped. No big deal, I could tell they were busy. We sat down and our server checked in fairly quickly and listed off a host of things they were out of. Out of Filet, Ribeye, Crab stuffed halibut, etc. Again, excusing them for having a busy day and hoping that was all the quirks we’d have. Ordered a bottle of wine, server came back, they were out of that too. So we’re not off to a great start here. We ordered and relaxed. About 12-14 min later some bread arrived: it was almost like warm dry rolls that had been sitting out. Dense; not very good; but the nice butter was a compliment: Food arrives and we all get our steaks. Now we eat out a lot, and I’ve had a lot of steaks. Two of 3 of our steaks were NOT what we ordered. Never had a NY strip look like the one I received and another member of our party same scenario. I assume they ran out of what we ordered as they had so many other things and said “just bring them these”. Might be wrong but these were not resembling of the cuts two of 3 of us ordered. They didn’t ask to cut into them or check the temperature but once we did again, 2 of 3 of us were well over a medium rare as ordered. We didn’t want to fuss and carried on with dinner. Steaks were on the dry side and semi flavorless. Sides were good, Brussel Sprouts and asparagus both very well cooked. Vibe: 3 of 5 Food: 2 of 5 Server Friendliness: 5 of 5 Location 5 of 5 Parking 5 of 5 Wine list 5 of 5 and reasonable pricing as well

Overall it was just “fine”. Hopefully our experience was just an...
