The marinated grilled chicken was delicious. The chicken strips were the size of breasts at other places and I hear they were very good. The chicken noodle soup was a bit salty and had way too much poultry seasoning, but the homemade noodle kept me dipping my spoon until I was too full to eat any more. Our waitress wasn't anything special, but she was good. She got a nice tip. The only two things we had to say which were bad were the place was super loud with voices. We had to say 'huh?' to one another about every other sentence. And then I saw how one of the staff cleans tables. First, some spray here and there on the table. Next, take your rag and wipe it back and forth also here and there making sure to wipe any food particles on to the floor. Then, leave the table moving on to the next with the same filthy rag. But not to worry, she left behind places that weren't wiped down at all as evidenced by the spray droplets and dry parts on the table. Second and third tables didn't get cleaned quite as well. On the third she did see the chunk of chicken her rag missed and wiped it on the floor with her hand. But don't worry, she proceeded to kick it under the table so no one would see it. Then wiped her hand with the rag. I imagined someone else who cares about my health, their job, and just has general manners cleaned our table. To the management of Roosters, I wish I could identify the staff member to you. It seemed clear to me others on your staff did care. I think this person would stand out to you and perhaps be trainer well for her new position in sanitation. Riding the back side of the truck. Because her sanitation skills are one day going to get a customer very I'll. Overall experience was still positive and we'll return, just not during normal lunch or dinner times when the noise level will be better. Everyone,...
Read moreDecided to try Roosters tonight after a friend raved about their wings. I placed a to-go order of chicken strips along with 30 wings to give them a fair shot. The chicken strips were delicious. Lightly breaded and crispy with tender white meat.
However, the wings were a miss. The sweet thai chili had a great flavor but the garlic and the mild did not seem to have any sauce adhering to the wings themselves. And the worst part for me was the texture. Lightly breaded, juicy, and jumbo wings would normally be a best seller for me. But whether it was the 10 minute trip to get the wings home or something else, the wings tasted terrible. Think boiled meat tossed in sauce. It's like they just weren't finished. A pan sear or a grill would have gotten them across the finish line. And I suspect they might be better ordered at the restaurant. But after a mostly failed $50 test, I'm not eager to find out.
Edit: I decided to re-review Roosters after a friend of mine wanted to go there. The food was hot and everything was very reasonably priced and delicious. I have since been back several times to the point I would call myself a regular. While they can become quite busy, I've always felt like the service was good.
The only reason I still subtract a star is because the food can be inconsistent. Sometimes the wings are crispy with a light saucing. Other times you can't pick a wing up without it dripping sauce. And I still can't forget my boiled wing takeout incident. Even still I think it is a worthwhile dining experience. Especially since the baked mac n cheese is quite literally the best...
Read moreThe rooster fingers were really good. They were nice and crispy yet still moist and juicy. The house made ranch and blue cheese dressing were pretty good too. I prefer blue cheese normally but their ranch was actually better. The nachos deluxe was “ok”. Lots of cheese sauce, jalapeños which was good, but there were hardly any nachos for all the sloppy toppings. And I always load every bite with lots of toppings and there were still way too much for the little amount of nachos. This was also after I’d even picked off most of the lettuce because there was way too much iceberg on them and also without even realizing there was sour cream and salsa brought in containers on the side. Then the chili….Blech! It had big ol beans In it! Had I known there were beans I wouldn’t have even ordered it. Even beans aside, I would rate the nachos only a 3/10. I wouldn’t recommend them unless you’re into just forking the toppings into your mouth without a nacho to go with it. But, if that’s your thing, just order a salad. I’ve had those before and the couple kinda I’ve tried were pretty good. My husband liked the rooster fingers also (they were actually his and I stole a half of one lol). He also ordered the potato skins and liked them too, but that’s his “go to” Everywhere we go that...
