Pelican's SnoBalls-Jacksonville Beach — Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach

To start as far as the actual SnoBalls are concerned this place is a five star for sure. The place itself is very clean. Bathrooms are very clean as well. There's a great seating area with games and such you can play or a chalk wall to draw on. Very family friendly. The snow is incredibly soft, probably the softest I've ever had. They are not skimpy with the syrups so you don't have to worry about digging in to unflavored ice. Everything was absolutely delicious and we will be back. They have a reward system that's really nice too, definitely sign up for it.

The only reason I am dropping a star is I believe this is the first time I had an experience where ordering something pictured doesn't actually come as pictured. I ordered the "Peliccino" which is a caramel coffee snowcone with whipped cream. In the photos it also has a caramel drizzle on top. When I was handed mine, I asked for the caramel topping and I was told it would cost extra, that the drizzle was "for the photo only." I kind of felt like that was false advertising. :\ I had no idea I had to order it extra on top, I mean it was in the picture. However, it WAS really good. (I hate that I can't just drop a half star, and I feel bad dropping a whole one but it didn't change their 5 star. :) )

I usually love coming here with my son, but today I had a really negative experience. While sitting inside with my child (probably between classes), there wasn’t even a piano class going on at the time. Despite that, the teacher came up to me and very rudely demanded that I leave. I agreed, but I needed a moment to gather my belongings, especially with a toddler in tow. Instead of giving me some space, she stood there, staring at me impatiently. Her attitude was cold and dismissive, making me feel uncomfortable and rushed. Then she said, “I will escort you out,” in an unnecessarily harsh tone. The way she spoke and acted was completely out of line—especially since no class was happening, and I was in the process of leaving anyway.

To top it off, it was starting to rain, which only made the situation worse. This was by far the most disrespectful and rude experience I’ve ever had here, and it left a terrible impression.

Pelican’s has a vast selection of flavors to choose from, more than anywhere else I’ve been to for shaved ice. There were also decent size portions and fun additions like scoops of ice cream or toppings to add in. I went in with my whole family because we were all excited to finally go together, however I regretted my decision to go in as a group of 6. My mom asked a few questions regarding flavors and was rudely answered with responses as if she should have already known. The staff seemed irritated and short with us as if they were just trying to rush us out. We weren’t taking a long time & there wasn’t a line behind us so we were confused as to why we were given impatient customer service. Aside from the staff, the space is strategically set up with fun activities and places to sit. The floor, tables and seating are very sticky but we still enjoyed the shaved ice.
