We stumbled on this coffee shop while looking for a quick and light lunch. The space is nicely done, better than many Starbucks. The sandwiches were tasty and simple. We didn’t try the baked goods but they looked inviting. We’d return if in the area again.

Workers are nice and efficient. atmosphere is very nice, lots of seating. I enjoy their hot chocolate as I am not a big coffee person! Both me and my younger cousins love their pastries, grilled cheese, and kettle cooked chips!!

It is clearly the best coffee shop in Jacksonville. It’s not even close! The coffee is incredible, the staff is so friendly and skilled, and the atmosphere is beautiful and there’s always a good energy in there.

Order: Pour Over and Cappuccino Price: $10 Positives: The seating (both indoor and outdoor) is amazing, the pour over and the espresso were both good. Negatives: Seems like they can get incredibly busy and parking could be a minor challenge tldr: Sago Coffee is going to be one of my go to spots at the beach when I want a good cup of coffee. They have tons of seating space, and it is a great area to set up and work, or hang out with friends. The coffee is pretty good too.

Thoughts: My wife had been to Sego coffee several times before and had been wanting to take me for a while. We finally had a free day together but still had a ton of work to but but also wanted to be out by the beaches so we planned a trip to Sego.

First of all the space here is amazing! They have a large common area with tables, couches, outlets, and plenty of comfy chairs. They also have a side conference room where it seems like the more focused people head to work or study. And then on top of all that they have a ton of outdoor seating. Even more impressive though is the fact that the outside space is very well thought out and comfortable. It’s not just a lot of chairs and some metal tables. They have full on outdoor couches tables and side tables to really give you a feeling of being able to hang out with people or relax.

Anyway…when we got to ordering I decided to get my usual order for visiting a new coffee shop. Even though my wife assured me that the coffee was fantastic, I figured it couldn’t hurt. Besides a pour over and cappuccino are always a good option.

The cappuccino came out pretty quickly and was simple, but delicious. It had a good amount of foam, the temperature was right, the beans were good, and just overall a great cappuccino.

It did take a while for them to make a pour over but they were incredibly busy the day we went in. So I can definitely cut them some slack given how much they had going on. The pour over itself was very good. It was the right temperature and the beans had a lot of flavor to them.

While the coffee was very good, I think the real winning factor for Sago is its space. There is a ton of space both inside and outside the store to hang out or do work in and it’s all very comfortable. Sago feels like a place that was designed for working or spending time there. The downside to all this awesome space is that it can get very busy. In fact the day we went we had to wait a little while to get one of the nicer tables outside. It’s definitely worth it but this place can get super busy.

Overall though, if you are in the beaches area and either want a fantastic cup of coffee, or a really awesome place to hang out Sago Coffee is the answer to...

Here’s the thing that some reviews say but I can’t believe more don’t say … why are the baristas so apathetic and borderline rude? I’ve been coming to Sago since it opened so this experience comes from dozens and dozens of visits. When it first opened I never felt like staff was rude, but over the years and with turnover there’s an obvious apathetic vibe from most of them. Is there just not an emphasis on customer service or like being nice to customers? I go in with a big smile and thank yous and I don’t expect anyone to be peppy and smiley but like not annoyed would be nice. Today was the last time I think I’ll go there. No welcome in, not much of anything said to me. When I paid and said thank you, the person who took my order turned and walked over to the others … no “thanks, we’ll call you when it’s ready” no nothing, just walked away …. And I don’t know why? It felt very strange. Again, it wasn’t someone going out of their way to be rude, just a very strong sense of apathy. When I picked up my order, I said “thank you!” Exclamation mark included, smile on face, and got no eye contact and a quick “yeah” from the other barista. When I picked up my food, I said “thanks!” Once again and the person kept their head down literally right in front of me at the counter and said nothing … I’m almost just confused at how each person I interacted with barely looked at me and not one said you’re welcome even passive aggressively 😂 this is not the first time I’ve had this experience there, but certainly will be the last. Is someone there just not asking their employees to be like somewhat nice to customers? Am I crazy or is anyone else experiencing this almost every time they go? I’d say for me this is like 70% of the time and SOMEtimes they’re nice or even just neutral positive. Is someone not paying them enough? Do they hate their jobs? I totally get it if so, but I just don’t get why most of them are super apathetic. I should mention also it was not busy at all. I was actually the only one in line when I ordered, so it couldn’t have been an issue of them being overwhelmed by customers … I’d probably be more understanding if so. Anyway, this is the first Google review I’ve left and I feel bad but threw off my whole morning and this is not an isolated incident so figured I’d share...

My mom and I went to Sago Coffee shop to enjoy a little coffee and pastries after church. I wanted to visit the shop also because I saw beautiful photos of their latte art and was excited to order a latte with beautiful latte art. When we arrived the latte machine was unfortunately down- no worries we still ordered and the young woman who took our order was very apologetic about the expresso machine and very kind as we were indecisive. We ordered the banana nut muffin which was a 4/5 could’ve had more banana flavor otherwise was a perfect muffin. We also ordered the waffle 5/5 perfectly soft and sweet no syrup needed! As well as the avocado toast with bacon which was literally made to perfection! 5/5 this is a must order item off their menu! We also had the coffee doughnuts which were delightful also a 5/5! Everything was delicious we had no complaints! My mom got a coffee w/vanilla cream and I got a cinnamon chai iced latte with cinnamon sprinkles. Our drinks were made exceptionally well, right before we left the workers surprised me with a beautiful latte with a heart design latte art on top I was so shocked but so happy they were able to make my birthday so much better with the surprise latte! I would give this place 5/5 stars service was friendly, patient, and full of smiles and the food quality aligned well with the food...
