Went out for a Friday night pizza date. The hostess girl, Ella, was very kind! We enjoyed her. However, the very SECOND we sat in our booths, I saw a cook in the transitional hall space between the kitchen & dining room stand and cough right into the open space, not even into his elbow or anything, just open mouth, toddler child-esque DISGUSTING cough. I was extremely put off by this but was looking so forward to my pizza, I put it behind me. Then… it only got worse. I watched this man cough so freaking much in this kitchen that I don’t understand how he wasn’t sent home. We also watched this man, in plain view, grab a napkin off the counter and blow his nose into it. I literally saw his snot in the napkin as he wadded it up into his hand afterward. Did he wash his hand? NOPE!! I also watched a second cook cough straight into his hand a few times & wipe his nose. Were they wearing gloves? NOPE!! Neither cook was wearing gloves this entire time. None of the ones that seemed a little more hygienically acceptable either, though. I honestly cannot believe that I ate my pizza slice. If I wasn’t looking so insanely forward to eating there tonight, and had I not have been so so so hungry, I would have left almost immediately. The cook with the absolute worst manners & hygiene was a very large guy, with almost no hair on his head, and no beard. The other one coughing straight into his hand was almost equal in size to the first fellow, but had a big brown beard. It wasn’t busy at all in there, and I know their supervisor, who was definitely present, very well could and should have caught these extremely poor practices & made a change. We were there tonight, January 3, 2025, at 9pm. I highly suggest something is done about this before food licenses are stripped from this Al’s pizza location, as I have not seen such poor practices in a restaurant since seeing a cook openly vape in the kitchen of a Chilis, while on the grill. Al’s pizza does not deserve employees lacking such common sense & decency. This pizza is the best. But my gosh, what the hell did I just witness?

It appears that the ongoing Pizza wars are shifting from price value to quality. If this is the case, then Al's Pizza will come out of this as a winner. I can't think of another Pizza location in the greater Jacksonville area that does as good as a job with quality Pizza, ingredients and underlying price as this restaraunt does. This is in addition to the other fine Italian inspired dishes that they serve such as stuffed ravioli marinara and 🍆 parmesan, amongst others. They also have a small bar which I think brings a bistro feel into this establishment which was started in 1988. It's clearly a clean, well maintained and lighted facility with plenty of safe parking. Very good for nightime pizza runs. Staff very helpful and they'll tell you when your order will be ready. And it will be awesome. 🍕

Disappointed with the first slice of pizza they serve. It looked so old that it looked like it came from a fridge and heat it up with a microwave lol! Then the second slice took so long to be served and it looks way so different from the first pizza . As you can see the other sliced pizza that was just served is so fresh. However i lost my appetite and already was full because i was starving. You guy’s can’t serve costumers a food that was made from yesterday and serve me a new on the 2nd one. And for the server (she was nice tho) Still don’t ask if we want a new one. Please if you see it like that INITIATE an offer for a replacement.

VERY rude delivery man (bald white man with kinda big build and muscle shirt). I ordered a 2 liter regular Coca-Cola with my pizza order and the delivery guy brought the wrong soda (which is completely fine cause everyone makes mistakes), but I called the restaurant and they asked him to bring me the right soda and when he did he knocked on door for one second and I went to the door literally within a few seconds and he was walking away very fast like he obviously DIDN’T WANT TO GIVE ME MY SODA! So I ran outside with the first soda he’d brought and said, “Hey!” to get his attention and he looked straight at me and gave me a annoyed look and IGNORED me and starting opening his car door like he was going to get in his car and leave even though he saw me and I said “Hey!” again and he finally started walking towards me with the soda and he rudely said, “I was going to call you cause you wouldn’t answer the door” (when I answered the door in a few seconds) and then he looked at the soda I was returning to him and said rudely, “Did you drink part of this??” (it hadn’t been opened so I didn’t drink any of it). One of the weirdest rudest experiences with a delivery driver ever. Guess he was annoyed he had to bring the right soda back, but I didn’t like the kind of soda he brought and I think I should get what I pay for and he’s the one who made mistake. I called the store and lady who I spoke to apologized and I asked for my tip back and got it (I’ve never asked for a tip back it my life), so at least the restaurant was nice about it. The pizza was good but it was kinda cold, but that’s probably cause they are very busy now during the coronavirus situation so that’s understandable and it’s probably not cold when they’re not as busy. We popped it in the microwave for a few seconds...

read the other 1 star reviews they all have the same theme, customer service. I order online, pay online, show up to the store 5minutes before pick time, and end up being ignored standing right in front of the 2 employees at the front desk, as phone in orders are more important than the people standing right in front of you. finally get helped and employee goes to check on a basic chicken greek salad and comes back and says 5more minutes. ok I wait, I wait 18 minutes until another employee asks if I have been helped....ok so maybe their employees don't talk to each other, or maybe they just clocked on and didn't know what was going on, i guess in some weird way that might be possible, but a long shot. that 2nd employee goes back and checks after 13minutes already over what the 1st said and comes back and says 1 more minute. so I wait, mind you my order was already paid online, was for pickup, so the amount of work on Al's side is very minimal. 2-3 minutes later my super labor intensive GREEK SALAD comes out. you would think after an order placed initially at 12:10pm that the salad would of been freshly picked and assembled by some top chef in the kitchen, but NOPE, you can tell its pre-made, just by seeing that the ONLY thing I asked to not have on my salad was Olives, and what do I see when I get home to eat, olives. customer service is dead, and this place is your proof. if you have all day to spend getting food, try here, their food isn't that bad. if you only have 1-2 hours to get food, try anywhere else. ps. I was upset when I was there, but I felt bad for the takeout orders people that were waiting already when I got there, and only got their food right before me, makes you realize how long they...
