Cowtown Tavern — Restaurant in Jacksonville

My daughter and I usually sit at the bartop on our daddy daughter dates. The bartender said she couldn't sit there because it's illegal. NOT TRUE! There are no laws in Florida saying a minor is not allowed to sit at the bar. We were forced to move to a table. The waitress we had was nice, but the food was hit or miss. The calamari was excellent, but the chips with the queso were subpar and riblettes were extremely tough and just drowning in sauce, not good at all. We ordered desserts togo, and the $11 pecan pie was a joke! It is the most expensive dessert on the menu and it's freaking ridiculously tiny!!!!!... literally 5 or 6 bites to it. I questioned the size and was told that's just how it comes. We were excited to try this place out, but won't be returning. Overall, it's not worth the trip or the cost to go here. After a few crappy experiences at other restaurants, we finally found a new spot we will definitely return to. Great service, nice vibe and the food was awesome too! Not asking for much but gee some places now lack so much. Thank you all for taking care of your customers and caring about how the whole operation is run.

The fries smell so good right out the fryer. We got them and the wings. wings were great too. I’ve been coming here for a couple of months, and it was really good at first. I’m sad that I now have to give a 2 star review for the food (service and atmosphere are still both solid 5s), but over the past three weeks or so, I have noticed a decline in the food quality. The last time I came in, I ordered a Reuben, and it was very soggy. I told my waitress about it, and she referred me to someone named John, who I guess was the chef?
