Plank Seafood Kitchen and Bar Years ago when I worked at Wells Fargo on Dupont off San Jose I would love to eat lunch at Gene’s Seafood on University at San Jose. Since it closed Lakewood area has longed for another good seafood spot. The perfect opportunity for Charlie Farah, one of Jacksonville’s longest running seafood guys, to swoop in and put fish back on the St John’s riverbank. Plank Seafood Kitchen and Bar replaces the previous tenant Pink Salt. The transition is actually still underway but the dining area and bar are ready for guests and there’s really even just the slightest evidence of a rebranding taking place. Lots of dining space with colorful art decor and a classic dressed bar that is very inviting. I’m imagining a lot of Happy Hour traffic because the bar itself as well as the stools are very comfortable. Charlie’s transitional menu has something for everyone. I got the Farah’s Seafood Platter which included Shrimp, Fish(Flounder) Scallops, Oysters, hush puppies and two sides (mashed potatoes and green beans). Everything was blackened except the scallops and oysters. I also ordered a bowl of the Clam Chowder. Maria my server was very pleasant and brought my chowder first, nice and hot and as you can tell by the picture very hearty. Just as I finished my chowder my Farah Platter arrived. What a treat it was to go from each delicious item to the next. Fried oysters with a bangin sauce and homemade cocktail were just the right touches. Mashed potatoes and green beans needed no additional seasoning and the blackened Flounder was light, not too delicate and flavorful. Full as a tick I couldn’t help but finish each of the blackened shrimp šŸ¤. Grab your gang and enjoy this beautiful new seafood restaurant located conveniently between San Marco and Mandarin.

My husband and I ate at the restaurant yesterday evening— had fried shrimp with 2 sides— so good! It’s so nice to have a casual, good value seafood restaurant in the neighborhood again. The decor is still mostly ā€œPink Saltā€ (the previous restaurant), but the menu is not Pink Salt. I think they’re currently working on changing out decor/signage, etc. It is a ā€œsoft opening ā€œ, and they appear to be doing well! Yay! Thank you for bringing back good, traditional southern-style seafood into Lakewood! We will return!

Had lunch here today. I can only vouch for the Shrimp special, but it was all very good. 20 Shrimp, 2 sides(I had French fries and Coleslaw) and 2 Hushpuppies for $14.99. Could have easily been a meal for 2 or one really hungry person 😊

I just want to say sorry that y'all are closed down I work there for just a little bit and absolutely love the people that I work with as well as the customers. I'm sorry that I have to post this on here but not sure where to reach out to. Not sure who I need to contact to see about getting paid I sure will miss this place and the people that I work with and I'm hoping to see all reopen again in the near future at a new location please feel free to reach out to me and give me updates and let me know what is going on and how myself should be able to get paid for working at the plank thanks so much and hope to hear...
