the 2010 census, the city population was 2,785, up from 2,235 at the 2000 census. History Jacksonville was founded following discovery of gold deposits in 1851–1852. With the creation of Jackson County, it became the county seat, a role which was transferred to nearby Medford in 1927. Jacksonville was home to the first Chinatown in Oregon, founded by immigrants from San Francisco. Physical evidence of this chapter of history was uncovered early in March 2004 when road work uncovered artifacts dating to the 1850s and 1860s. Construction was halted while archeologists performed four days of rescue excavations. Their findings included broken Chinese bowls and tea cups, handmade bottles, and fragments of opium paraphernalia and Chinese coins. As the gold deposits were worked out in the 1860s and the railway bypassed Jacksonville in 1884, the city's economy slowed. This had the unintended benefit of preserving a number of structures, which led to Jacksonville's being designated a National Historic District in 1966, covering over 100 buildings. It was cited as a "mid-19th century inland commercial city significant for its magnificent group of surviving unaltered commercial and residential buildings. The city was the principal financial center of southern Oregon until it was bypassed by the Oregon and California Railroad

I like the Tavern because there is lots money on the ceiling that goes to a good cause and there is a back door if you need to elude particular people plus there is usual parking out that door. Or there was probably not now that I've told everybody . Super cool place though.

Great place with clean bathrooms, the bartender was especially friendly with my wife which she was quite flattered about, it reminded me to up my game so she stays under my loving wing... that dam bartender Don is quite a smooth character!

Absolutely awful experience. My partner and I are locals in the area and have frequented the tavern many times in the past. For context : I have been in the service industry for 10 years and bartend at two local restaurants.

We came in this evening wanting to play some pool and have a few drinks. The female bartender with the black hair in a bob was incredibly rude. We spent money to play music on the jukebox. The bartender continued skipping the songs we had selected. I ordered very simple shaken shots.. a green tea and a kamikazi shot.. both very simple drinks with 3 ingredients each. When I went up to the bar to settle up, she made a comment of how I am inconveniencing her by asking for all these wild ‘concoctions’. Are you even a bartender? What a joke.

We came into the bar in a great mood and left super disrespected and unhappy. She clearly prioritized other people, and only helped us when she had to. I understand having a bad day and not feeling it but she really went out of her way to be unkind, and her negative attitude ruined our evening and my one night off.

We have had great experiences with the male bartender who used to work at the Indigo in Ruch, and feel pretty unlucky to have come into the bar on the night she...

The atmosphere is like stepping back in time with exception to the occasion loud music from the jukebox. It has darts, pool, gambling and most importantly for a bar booze. The few times I have had issues was because of either new or rude bartenders. I went on my 21st and they were one of the few bars that actually gave me a free shot. The locals are friendly as well on the same birthday in question a patron bought me 3 drinks, now I don't know maybe they thought i was cute, but hey free drinks and I paid it forward. If your looking for a bar that has historical value, pretty competitive prices, and you pick a night with a good bartender it will be a...
