So if I would've reviewed this place a few months ago, I would've scored them higher. The food is good. However- I'm reviewing today and cannot score them high at all due to experience I just had with my mother.
My mom, who has breast cancer, is a participant with V for Victory. For the month of January she was given a certificate for slice through V for "a family meal". We called one Friday night as we were going to Oakleaf and figured we'd order and pick it up while out there. I called to place the order and explain about the certificate my mom had through V.
A woman answered. She was clueless as to what the certificate would cover and stated there was nobody there for her to ask. She stated she would try to call the owner. She placed us on hold then came back and said she couldn't get them on the phone. She then said you need to ask V what it covers. My response- it's your restaurant, you all determine what this certificate covers. Is this the first time you've done this? I'm sure you've had other families utilize this through V.
She then stated she would text the owner. She said she did but didn't get a response. I told her not to worry about it and we hung up.
Fast forward to today. My mom shared the issue with her rep through V. The rep stated the owner said they had "a situation with a customer" a few weeks ago and there was "cussing" and they've decided not to honor the certificate or provide them any longer moving forward.
Wow. The audacity of this organization to LIE regarding this incident is astonishing to me. There was no yelling. There was no cussing. There was however tons of confusion on your employees part for something that YOU set up with a local non profit.
Seriously disappointing.
I will not be supporting this business any longer as this is inexcusable behavior. If you don't want to train your staff or honor your word, then don't, but don't lie on a family- who is already going through a tough...
Read moreI didn't want to post this but we have been here 3 times in the last few months to make SURE it wasn't just a one off. This pizza used to be super crispy and NOT floppy, tasted great. This is not Jersey (or NYC) pizza, it's typical Jacksonville pizza. Or normal pizza. We were literally there yesterday, drove all the way from the beaches to have this, giving it one more try. It's a NO. I don't know what's happening. We asked about if they were going to make any more cheese only pizzas for the slices and they actually told us not anytime soon. This was literally lunchtime. Not at the end of the day. NO MORE CHEESE SLICES AT ALL being made? Are you joking? The staff is super nice but they seem stressed and do not care about the quality of the food anymore. Our pizza was not only floppy (we got the two slices combo each, so that's FOUR slices we tried), it wasn't even that hot. We also got garlic knots that were cold. Then they said no sauce comes with two knots (what?). I just don't get it. The place was very busy. So either ALL these people know it's not consistent and don't complain, or there is literally nothing else better in the entire area. We were told the Palencia location wasn't as good (it's not) because they don't use the same ovens, etc., but now this location does not make anything crispy like they could. I don't know if they changed the dough or the dough makers did something wrong. We mentioned it the last time we were here before posting this review, so maybe this will help improve the process. We'd be happy to come back and try it if it was once again a true...
Read moreThe atmosphere here is nice, they've made some changes, but it still looks nice and clean. Going here in the past was nice. The woman behind the counter would always greet you when you entered and smile as she is taking your order. She would verify your order and then say, "It'll be about XXmins honey, would you like something to drink while you wait?" Very rarely would I say yes, but the offer was still made. And there is even playful banter. The girl that is there now, I'm not sure if it's a lack of training, because it IS needed, but not verifying your order is basic. And EVERYWHERE I have been, when you order a slice, they usually toss it right in the oven and keep it movin' on to the next customer... Not wait 5mins,for you to ask, if she got my order then put it in. And for whatever reason, give you the corner (the least desirable part with almost nothing on it) of a square pie instead of any other square that was there. Not sure why the attitude. Then when my order was ready, she didn't say a word to me, just came, as I was watching the TV, sat it down without a word to me. No, "Enjoy!" "Did you need any packets?" Nothing! And What pizza joint can't accept a $50 bill on a $25 dollar order? Seriously? A pizza joint? The service has not been the best in the last few months after the young chic has been there...for me at least. I won't be going back. I'll drive all the way to Big...
