Red bowl — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I ordered my food, paid politely and tipped for take out. The restaurant is not too busy, looks like a few DD orders and 2 customers besides myself. The reason for my review is due to their behavior behind the counter. There are young kids that mostly work and talk amongst themselves, the cooks however seem extremely unprofessional and irresponsible. One decided to make a noise as if he was hocking up a big loogie making the younger workers laugh. I get that some joke to make work entertaining and the day go by quicker but would you want people preparing your food to joke like that? Especially in the oakleaf are which is known for racial tension and hateful people. This is sad because I normally don't have an issue with this restaurant but looking at the reviews closer I see people have similar complaints about portion size and the cooks. I have seen this place for as long as it has been in oakleaf and have always thought nah I’ll just get hibachi at a normal sit down restaurant. Today I felt like hibachi but didn’t have time to sit down at a restaurant so I thought I’d give this place a shot. Dang! I was pleasantly surprised how good my meal was. Fried rice and veggies were perfect. The chicken was shockingly tastier and more tender than any of the other restaurants I’ve ever been to in the Oakleaf/Middleburg/Orange Park area. I really like how the whole bottom is rice and the top is the protein and veggies rather than both being on separate sides on the plate. The yum yum sauce comes in squeeze pouch which is perfect for evenly drizzling it all over. Also, I ordered the small portion and it was a lot of food. Service was quick and easy. Definitely will be back more often and can’t wait to have my wife try it too! 😁

Now in no way am I expecting this place to be some type of A1 Wagu Steakhouse, however, I also expect at the very least to have decent quality food for the price that I am paying.

Lets starts with some pros. The food did not take too long to get out. secondly, I will admit their drink selection is pretty nice.

Now lets move onto the cons. Some of the dishes, specifically the soup and salads were prepared in the morning and stored in the crock pot and fridge respectively. The boba was just powder mixed in with hot water and then cooled down by adding ice and shaking. A big big con at least for me, was that if you wanted extra shrimp sauce you had to pay extra, now I'm not a business person but certainly a restaurant can allow customers extra sauce free of charge.
