I have gone to a lot of haunted houses and some of them you get surprised and some of them you are like “did I just waste my money?”. This one was on the border. The reason why is because of the prices of the tickets. They give you three options on their website and the more you pay the fast you get into the haunted house. You have the standard, fast pass and skip the line. I purchased the fast pass and by the way it’s gets expensive with the 2 fees that get tacked onto the price of the ticket. When I walked into the parking lot it was empty. Oh did I mention that the haunted house is built into a department store? Yeah that was what caught me off guard. Anyways, I got there the only line that had anyone in it was the standard link which by the way only had 20 people in it. So I paid way too much money for my fast pass ticket when there was no wait in any of the lines. So let’s talk about the scare factor. If I were to rate it out of 1-10 I was say that it was a solid 5. The experience felt like it could have been better if they had more employees working the haunted house. I know they might be short staffed but the price of the tickets should reflect that. Just saying. I remember growing up when I went to a haunted house we were not pushed through. Being pushed through and catching up to the group in front of us kind of spoils the whole experience. I could see the scares up ahead and when it finally got to us the timing was off and we wouldn’t get the same scare that the group up ahead was experiencing. I would highly recommend slowing down the crowd pushing especially if it’s not busy and there is no need to do it. The costumes were good and the rooms were highly detailed and in fact it was probably more detailed compared to universal studios. I think the prices of the tickets are too high. I believe the price of the tickets should be around the $20-$25 mark and that would be for a fast price. At the end of the day if your trying to hit every haunted house as a bucket list I would say do it but keep in mind that this won’t be the scariest but it will be the most detailed. Just so you know there are not multiple haunted houses but one big one and there are different environments that you...
Read moreJacksonville, FL - This was a mediocre attempt to scare people who do not know any better and for me, was not worth the cost of admission plus drive time (I live out of the area.) All ticket types (GA, Fast Pass, Skip the Line) are required to go through the same two-person security checkpoint. After which guests can utilize the appropriate lane for their ticket type. There are three different queue areas for General Admission: Between security check and ticket verification (outside), ticket verification and photographs (inside), and the event "loading" area. While waiting for groups to get their picture taken, guests should expect that a lack of airflow may cause heat related issues. Yes it is in a warehouse and the cost of using A/C would be astronomical, but the use of fans for SOME airflow could greatly reduce the heat buildup from those waiting. They do have a scare actor moving opposite of the flow during the queuing process to scare unexpecting/easily frightened guests.
Once past the photograph and just prior to entry, parties (of not more than 10) will receive a short safety briefing and will be allowed entry. It should be noted, that to decrease the awkward silence while we wait for the green light, it would have been nice to get some background on what is going on: Alien takeover, spook possession.. something that would add to the experience. Transition areas are lackadaisical and are simple sewer or basement corridors... again, something simple like a fan blowing air over ice to add to the ambiance would help reduce the heat felt and enhance the experience. There are a few effects which I thought were really well executed, but will not divulge what/where they were... but they were pretty neat!
The end of the venue will lead you into the Axe throwing place, but the exit from the event is not very well marked, you will have to go through the doors and take a right while still on the sidewalk to go around the fencing that they have in place.
So at the end, I observed that this year there seemed to be more people wearing staff shirts than scar actors. Some cheap air scares and confused people not knowing...
Read moreThis is NOT a knife.
Please post all of your rules where they can be viewed by all and please show some consistency in upholding them. I had a phone, my earbuds, and the car keys on me. That's it. However, this time, the bottle opener that's been on the key ring for two years and through this very line 5 or 6 times in those two years...this time it's a knife?
I'm a big fan of haunts and try my hardest to support my locals but the roulette wheel of rules at this one is getting ridiculous. Every visit is a new problem; waivers for one season but not the next, leave everything home or in the car at Halloween but not at Christmas, and a little skull key bottle opener becomes a knife on Valentine's Day, even though it wasn't a knife last year, or the year before that.
To clarify: This is not one of those self-defense keyrings seen on TikTok and YouTube. It's obvious in person that there is no knife anywhere on or in it. Plus it's old and worn and used often. There are no sharp points or edges, even the finish is coming off. If I can find a story of someone doing real damage with something like my little bottle opener, I will retract my complaint, but I bet it doesn't exist. I do more damage with my fingernails than this thing could.
I know this probably sounds stupid and I'm a snowflake blah blah blah....but these inconsistencies are all security related and security shouldn't be a guessing game. This was the forth time we had to remove something to the car and every time it's different. Considering the waivers are also hit-and-miss, this starts to feel less secure with...
