As far as I'm concerned and my family is concerned this is still the best authentic Italian in Jacksonville. It is an old building, some may call it a hole in the wall. In her past the atmosphere was very authentic Italian Greenery Vines concrete floors that sort of thing had some Romance. Now it's a tile floor with four-seater tables and chairs. There is plenty of room and it is clean, just not the authentic Italian atmosphere that it used to be. Which is really great because it was very hard to keep it clean. Now you can tell that it's clean. The pizza is Sensational but my recommendation is the baked lasagna. It is just as perfect to take to go as it is to eat inside. Inside they bring you your plates steaming hot beautiful right out of the oven with your salad and endless Italian garlic bread, the tea taste like tea it's delicious. I have never had anything I did not like. However I've never tried anything with the bell pepper cuz I don't eat bell pepper. But if you want something that is normally prepared with something you don't like like bell pepper, if it's possible they'll remove it for you you can have it your way. Now down to the staff. Very Hometown Jacksonville People Southern polite they tell you to have a seat and they'll be with you they wash off your table get your drinks bring your stuff come back as many times as they need to come back. They talk to your children they treat you like a guest. Very hospitable. Always will groomed and pleasant. If you order a to go or a pickup order. The oven baked items come in a foil pan with a lid they give you an entire paper bag full of the French garlic bread and they give you containers of salad all packed very nicely, so that you can eat it right out of the bowl or pop it in your oven again to make it perfect one more time. There's always enough for a little leftover and it's just as good or better the next day. I could probably eat it everyday different choices so many different choices. Each one...
Read moreWow....I did not expect this level of authentic Italian food in this area. I'm very impressed...which happens rarely. I am not a big fan of the more americanized foreign cuisines, so I have avoided Italian food outside of Europe. I received a strong recommendation to try the food here and promised I would and decided to get take out. I was greeted friendly just after walking in, even though another customer was at the counter finishing paying and I was quickly offered the menu when I said takeout. I chose to try a small pizza, side of spaghetti, minestrone and of course tiramisu. Price was adequate and 20 minutes short wait for food. When I got home, food was exactly as ordered and normal portions. Minestrone was hot and well seasoned, but not overkill and definitely lacked the acidity of canned ingredients :-) The spaghetti were phenomenal lots of pasta al dente with just the right amount of sauce to coat, not smother. The sauce again tasted like fresh ingredients with just the right flavor. Pizza was just as good and truly Italian style with more of a flatbread style crust, sauce and cheese to add flavors without drowning the whole pizza and fresh tasting ingredients in between. The tiramisu was like the cherry on top. Fresh, good coffee flavor but not soggy, and the cream light and not overly sweet.
Yum...Best recommendation I had in a while. I will be smiling for days to come and ready to enjoy Italian food locally. Anyone looking for Italian....I highly recommend. If you prefer the Americanized Italian food, definitely give them a try, just expect this to be more authentic from other Italian...
Read moreFoodies, listen up with your taste buds. This here is a Jacksonville gem. The Italian aroma is the first greeter once you open the door. The entire staff operates on a family welcoming mission. My father and I were tabled within 30 seconds of walking in. "Rain" was our waitress - friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant. My father ordered the spaghetti and sausage and I had the pasta sampler. The food was delicious. The pre-meal bread sticks were delicious. Me and my father tossed out the idea of a sweet treat elsewhere afterwards right out the window. We ate until there was no more room left. The pasta and cheese were cooked just right and the best ratio of each made everything just come together just right. I noticed on their menu that they opened up in 1995. That means this is their 30th year anniversary. Oh. The soups were full of flavor and just the right warmth. While I was there, I was several people come in for personal pick ups (not Uber Eats or anything) and a couple of parties coming obalus to dine-in. 3-5 in a group. From teenage to seniors. You can tell from the the range of people that they are coming for the quality of flavor of the food. If you are feeling like some Italian food, please check this place out. You won't regret nothing. I met the owner "Leo" and he was a happy welcoming man jay file of gratefulness that we enjoyed his food. They really know what they are doing and they do it with a old-fashion community feel. I will be going back for their Lasagna real soon. I even snagged a lollipop before I left to enjoy later when I...
