Wow. Just wow. We suddenly missed Houston. When we moved here in Jacksonville we were heartbroken a bit to find that there's not a lot of authentic Thai restaurant to go to. We went to so many and we're either disappointed or they were delicious but not as much as the family owned Thai restaurant we use to go to. Well not until we discovered Lum Thai! If you love Thai food, you better visit this place. It won't disappoint!
location: They are kind of hidden, they are near the corner of blanding and argyle forest blvd. Go straight past the Tj Max shopping center, right beside the self storage. There are a couple more other places in here. It's a small shopping complex.
Atmosphere: A small place but beautifully decorated better than other Thai places. It is very clean and well kept. The tables are always clean and looked prepared with care. They have a tv that showcases Thai show,, Thai culture.
People: Yes, they are amazing. Lala is nicest server we have ever encountered. She was very respectful and always made sure we are okay. She got our orders in right away and made sure our drinks are always filled. She checks on us every once in a while as well. Compliments to the chef as well, he/she is amazing. This is a family owned restaurant and I think that is one of the reasons why they can make you feel cared.
Food: Oh boy, we had the best chicken pad thai and chicken yellow curry since we came to Jacksonville. We also ordered tom yum, it was good too but we were looking for a more soury taste. However, the entrees were amazing!
The chicken pad thai was just perfect, thr combination of sweetness, a tad salty and sour is just amazing. And the yellow curry, the thickness of the sauce, the curry flavor and the aroma. Ohhhh! Me and my husband couldn't believe it. This is it. Amazing food prepared with care!
We will be a regular. I Know it's a drive going there but it's worth it! Expect us in the next week or so :)
I have uploaded some photos of the place and the food we ate. Enjoy!
UPDATE!
We've been coming almost every week to eat. We just couldn't get enough of this place! We tried panang curry which was devine! The stuffed chicken wings, thai donut and thai tea are...
Read moreLast time i was here, no one greeted us at the door and their customer service went down hill a lot despite the good food. I just returned recently after over a year and im sad to report that their customer service is still not improving. I saw people walked out the past couples times i was there and it was the same for this time.
They let you sit wherever but dont indicate it. They only 1 waitress who is a very nice lady, but she is never at the front. They get so many to go orders so she’s juggling everything so if you dine in, you ll be left standing there not knowing what to do as no one greets you. Then you sit down, she takes 10 min to come out with the menu, another 10 to get order, then another 10 to give us water. Then you wait another 20-30 min just to get your food. It’s ridiculous. People just stand up and walk out and the waitress doesnt even know or care. If they cant handle dine in, reduce the amount of tables or just do to go only.
Again she is very nice, but i used to be a waitress, you cant just be nice only, you need to be proactive and on your feet. She’s very passive. I cant blame her entirely as she’s doing a lot and they get a lot of to go orders. The kitchen is also slow but idk why the waitress keeps going to the back. People that pick up had to wait to? Everything is very inefficient and not customer-oriented
The food is good, though a bit overpriced. I frequent another Thai place near my house and their portion is bigger. I pay $17 for a fried rice and it’s good despite the small portion, but the lack of service bring down the entire experience of dining out. This has been going for the past year or so, and they still havent resolved it.
Sadly good food alone wont bring me back as the long wait really ruin a good dinner experience as i just sit there and hope to get noticed or chase down my waitress while still having things to do afterward. It’s a waste of time, might as well do to go and give them...
Read moreA dimond in the rough, nestled in a little strip mall off of Argyle Forrest Blvd. I when you first walk in, you feel like you're in a different area. The decor inside is very nice and looks as if it has never been used. From every aspect that I could see, it is kept magnificently clean. Not knowing exactly what I wanted, the waitress was very helpful with explaining my questions about the menu. I ordered a mango sweet tea to drink and the Pad Thai with medium heat for my meal. My tea came out with the lemon looking like a little shrimp. The mango flavor was very good in the tea, not overwhelming just enough of a hint to give it that nice flavor. The Pad Thai arrived with the steam rolling off of it. The presentation of the dish was visually appealing. The first taste was pure delight, good flavor, and just the right amount of heat. After a couple of bites, I mixed in the crushed nuts, squeezed on the lime, and shredded the carrot flower over the Pad Thai, giving the whole thing that much more flavor. As I sat and ate my meal, I could hear the people behind me commenting on their meals and how good they were. After finishing my dinner, I opted for the Mango Sticky Rice for my dessert. Not ever having it before, I must say all of the flavors joined together work together to make a wonderful medley of flavors. All aspects of this restaurant are great, I will definitely be...
