We had our daughter's wedding and reception here last week. The place is absolutely beautiful and the food is amazing but what makes this place so good is the people. Starting with Chad who runs the place. He was so helpful in planning the layout of the wedding, the menu, the flowers etc. Every time we talked to him we would go in there anxious about every detail and come out calm and serene because we knew he had it all under control. His recommendations for the menu were so spot on, everyone raved about the food. The flowers for the tables which he creates to your color scheme were beautiful. Then came the day of the wedding. It was an outdoor wedding and it rained and rained. In comes Stacy Hilltops event coordinator and the one we chose to officiate the wedding. I can not say enough wonderful things about her. When it looked like the wedding would have to be moved inside she moved quickly and got everything arranged to hold the ceremony in the main ballroom. Originally it was to be in the garden and then the reception in the Garden room/bar area of the Hilltop. Stacy recommended that since the ceremony was going to be in the ballroom we should move the entire wedding in there. We agreed and she and the rest of the staff had the entire place put together by the time we arrived and it was so gorgeous and elegant. Everything was amazing. The ceremony was beautiful and the words Stacy spoke moved everyone in the room. All during the reception she was on top of everything. Everything we needed she took care of. If we had a problem she not only found a solution but went the extra mile to make sure the solution was perfect. She even entertained our 5 year old at the end of the night while we were packing up to go. We can not say enough nice things about her. The servers she had were the best. They were on top of everything, always there to help and always with a smile on their face. They not only served food but they also helped with organizing everyone for the ceremony and it was so appreciated. To sum up if you want to have a beautiful, elegant wedding with a lot of charm, great food, put on my the very best people go to Hilltop. Also a big plus I did not mention is the price. It is very reasonable and they do weddings from very small to 150 plus so they fit...

However, we had already pre-ordered appetizers before we got there. They were slow on taking drink orders so a few of our guests had to go to the bar to get their drinks. The dining room was pretty empty and they did have two events going on. The staff admitted they were understaffed from the start - there seemed to be two events going on in other rooms. We finally ordered and asked that the kids meals come out first (since kids are kids!). At 8.11 the kids meals came out. My son asked what time it was and where my food was when he was finally done - not adult food yet - he goes “We’ve been here for over two hours!” (Even the 7 year old gets it...) After some complaining by our guests, the meals came out at 9.00!!! The staff was very rude. They were slamming plates down in front of people. Put a drink in front of one guest - he had asked for a beer and a glass so he could pour it and when the male waiter rudely put it in front of him he asked what it was and least 3 times - the waiter kept ignoring him and stormed off. The same waiter came in with food and yelled out “FILETS!” I asked aloud what kind with no answer as he continued to walk around the table and out of the room with the food. We didn’t know if they could be fish filets? Filet mignon? Chicken filet? The food was just awful. You waited that long for it and it was such a let down (I was 6 month pregnant so I was hungry!) it was overcooked, dry, and the pasta had no taste. By the time the food was served they no longer refilled drinks. Being pregnant I only had water (the other options were soft drinks) and with the dry chicken....I went and found a pitcher of water myself and brought it to the table. Never ever would I recommend the Hilltop unless you’re looking for a...
Read moreWe went to a wedding rehearsal dinner at Hilltop recently. The food was fantastic, the wait staff was very professional, courteous and competent. The water glasses were always filled and plenty of staff circulated the room to offer any assistance. The best way to sum it up would be a "Southern Charm" venue. The atmosphere was very charming. The night I went to a dinner here, there was a wedding reception in the other section of the building. There was ample parking for both parties. I believe the Hilltop has several different rooms which can be used for different events. The section for our party held approximately 60 people and could have easily accommodated more. The food chosen for our dinner was pork tenderloin, chicken marcella and braised beef. The beef was especially good as it was so tender and the sauce was very flavorful. It could easily be cut with a fork. Green beans and two salads were also served. The biggest hit was the roasted potatoes! Wow, they were great. Before dinner there were self serve appetizers which consisted of a large cheese platter and crackers, bruschetta and a spinach artichoke dip served with pita chips. A bar was set up and I was astonished at the quantity of wine poured in to the glass. They did not skimp a bit when pouring a glass of wine. Per glass it was $6.00 which was definitely a good price for the wine which was served. Our hostess choose to have free drinks during the appetizers of wine and beer. Then afterwards the bar was set up as "cash" bar. This worked out well for the party we attended. The linens were crisp and the napkins cotton, which I like to see (not the cheap polyester type). The area around the building was wooded and somewhat secluded giving me the feeling of being at an old plantation home. There were even rocking chairs on the surrounding porch area. The Hilltop would be a lovely place...
