I was having a bad day at work, and I realized I needed to change my attitude and what better way to do that then have a good lunch. Maybe the best lunch you can have in North Florida.
Yes, I’m talking about eating at the food truck/trailer called On the Fly.
Now let’s start off with the negatives, parking is not as easy as it is for most lunch places, but it’s really not that bad if you know what you’re doing. There are plenty of slots on the street before you get to the restaurant, and if you called ahead and are just picking up then you can park in the reserve lot, where On the Fly is located. Now these spaces are reserved for lawyers going to the courthouse, which is nearby. So you can’t park there here all day, but if you’re just stopping in for lunch or if you’ve called ahead or just picking up takeout, then you should be fine. If you’re in someone’s spot, the first place to look is the restaurant, so just know you may have to move fairly quickly.
For me, I like to call in advance, place my order, and then Park in one of the spaces. Then I pick up my food and go and I’m only there for five minutes.
Now that that’s all out of the way, let’s talk about some of the best food that you will have in Jaxonville.
On the Fly sauce – I think this is made by a team of leprechauns they keep in the back of the food truck. Because it comes out so fresh, so delicious, and if they sold it by the gallon, I would be numero Uno in buying it. Blue chips – a great starter chips and blue cheese, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Firecracker Sesame seared Tuna – another solid performer, it has some kick to it, although the tuna is always perfectly cooked. Sweet and spicy quesadilla – oh my God, this dishes as close to heaven as I think I will ever get to. The chicken is so tender and put into a tortilla with caramelized onions, banana peppers, and covered in On the Fly sauce. I don’t know how but this works so well you cannot imagine.
So you need to turn your day around, I think the spot may just do...
Read moreI've been a patron of On the Fly for years! It's still my favorite food truck. The consistency is unmatched. Chef Andrew is always polite, friendly, and welcoming. I've never had a bad item on the menu in all these years. The food is so good and always made with the freshest ingredients. The other day, I went and grabbed some shrimp tacos, and they were amazing as usual. Best shrimp tacos in the whole city, and I stand on that. I managed to snap a pic before I devoured them.
I also included a pic of the sweet potato planks from a previous visit. Everything is just so delicious 😋
Don't hesitate to pay him a visit. They're open Monday - Friday, from 11 AM -...
Read moreI had a ticket I had to pay at the court house and I accidentally pulled into this food trucks parking lot. I was obviously upset and was probably visibly shaking. I was having a really bad day that day and really just needed someone to be kind to me. Well, that was the person on staff at around roughly 2 pm on 01/13. Idk what your name is dude but you really came through. I didn't even have to tell you I needed help you just offered it (I needed to find a parking space). I bought a coke and tipped a dollar. Wish I had more. Will come get lunch from this...
