Shanty Town Pubz — Restaurant in Jacksonville

A lovey neighborhood dive bar! I love little “dive” bar places and I am glad to have one in my own neighborhood!

Shantytown has been around for a while but I only recently started to visit over a year ago when I moved to Springfield.

It’s a great place to go hang out. It’s a small dive bar w a small stage for musicians, trivia, Dj’s, stand up etc. Which they have things going on weekly, like trivia night. But they also have small shows of different genres. The back patio is my favorite when the weather is a little cooler, it’s like hanging out in someone’s back yard. Especially when a fire pit it going!

Great selection of beers if you like craft or more known domestics.

Nice hole in the wall downtown. Haven't been around downtown very much yet but this place was decent. Gave me some Seattle vibes from when I lived there which was cool. Bar was kinda small so it was good to go out in the fairly lager "backyard" area they have. Huge variety of IPAs and other craft beers here, while also offering the "norm" beer selection. Was cool to see dogs allowed and was about 5-6 I saw through-out the night. They have a nice Golden-doodle that seems to be the bar dog as well. Good service, friendly waitresses. Will be back. Truly fantastic dive bar. The beer selection is great with a handful of local and domestic taps. The fridge has a large rotating stock of craft and import cans and bottles as well as a few sake choices. The small food selection is tasty, the Cuban is great for $8 and the boiled peanuts are a savory late night snack. There are also a number of weekly events as well as irregular happenings here.
