This location is a keeper, from the moment we walk in the door. The wait for a booth - well there never is one. All of the waiters and waitresses are attentive and check on us often. We've become regulars here since we fled the horrors of the South Beloit location. So now they know us! They know we like iced teas with lemon and just keep 'em coming! Yes - year round. And they don't make it thru a coffee maker. It's some of the best iced tea around. The food is so much fresher - the broccoli is crisp and a bright green, not a mushy, cooked-all -day green like in South Beloit. The portion size, although supposed to be uniform across locations, seems larger and the food is always cooked just right here in Janesville. We've never had a bad meal here and we've tried out quite a bit of the menu. Like their skillets and sandwiches the best. I like burgers on the rarer side so I don't have them there. Chicken, fish, turkey - they're all good here. Holiday turkey dinner is all I have when it comes out in October. Breakfasts too - generous portions and always yummy. And they're speedy too. We've never wondered where our food or server is. They also don't run out food like the S.B. location - chicken, broccoli, potatoes, lemons. Hey S.B. - aren't those your staples? The servers are never pushy or clueless, always polite and friendly and now remember us, which is a nice feeling. Although sometimes a little slow when paying to leave, they take the 20% off coupons from the newspaper or supermarket receipts without issue; same for the 15% AARP discount. The TV's all have different channels on - sports, weather, news - instead of the same one. The bathroom is a little chilly but at least it's clean. The restaurant interior is temperature appropriate and the decor is nice, areas are kept clean. They're not pushy to see us leave. I don't have to say we'll probably be back because they already know we'll be back! My one and only complaint is that I wish Denny's would serve their grits past 2:00 pm. This makes me very sad but not enough to ding them a star here in Janesville. That's corporate, not them.
So stop in and say hi from the iced tea kids! See...
Read moreMent to make this review day of. Went to Dennys last Tuesday with a friend during first shift for breakfast, the waitress at the time was polite and nice, but after a little later during the day me and my friend returned to get some dessert, my friend got the cookie dough pie while I got the apple crumble pie. My friends dish came out relatively well, while mine at first looked alright was good; but as the ice-cream melted a lot of what looked to be oil came pooling out of it and made me not want to touch it any more. And I had told the waitress at that time who was working the second shift that although it was good at first it had been really oily, and the second shift waitress in what could be proceed as a nice tone, but in a sorta rude manner "well the chef had to mix the stuff with butter inorder to create the crumble sweety"; then proceed to say it a second time. After she had given our check and said that to me, she had then gone back to the kitchen and proceed to say loudly to the cooks enough so that everyone in the building could hear, something along the lines of "well i told her that you guys added butter to make the crumble and that's how it's made, while she had barely touched it and said it was good but oily," And she at another time also bad mouthed loudly to them as well at a earlier time to them something about the first shift waitress(not sure if it was the one from when me and my friend was there for breakfast that she was talking about) and how she apparently was bad at doing her job and needed to re learn all these things and how she would teach would train them better. Note- not all the things mentioned are the exact wording but as close as I can remember what the second shift waitress had loudly said, the building that day was quite with few people and the music was quite so it was very easy to hear what...
Read moreWife and I stop in to this Denny's 2 or 3 times a month n we've always had Great service up until last night 7/13/2023. They had 2 waitresses n 2 tables with customers when we were seated around 5pm. We were sat at a booth that was not wiped down very good on tables edges or the booth seats. Then waitress wasn't very pleasant as past waitresses were polite and made you feel at home. This waitress had her head other places besides the job. She spent more time talking to the 2 cooks the entire time we were there. The food was good true but order wasn't delivered all together. I had breakfast n was to come with toast n when I have to get up n go to waitress who is up yaking to cooks n ask for my toast n its then brought to me cold n Covered with so much butter taken 1 bite makes me want to puke then it says cooks don't care. Toast was done they just left in toaster cause they were to busy Talking instead of doing there Job! There were 5 tables with folks when we left n 2 were still waiting to order 10 minutes after they came in as 1 was set behind us. The bathroom had a nasty smell from drainage hole. They need to learn to pour a half cup bleach into that so sewage smell don't come out and make people want to throw up. Now let's get to the price of a Cup of coffee. 3.85 ? Really ? This is why I drink bottle water n refuse to touch soda or milk at restaurants. That's Way over priced and Theft by Denny's corporation! I really didn't want to leave a tip as i felt rushed when waitress handed us the check as she delivered food. We use to enjoy this Denny's but after last evenings fiasco will find another place to give...
