I personally order from Havana at least once every day in the morning ânot just because the food is good, but also because they offer a flatbread pizza that I can order for breakfast. Iâm not your typical breakfast lover, so having this option is a game-changer for me. Itâs something I actually look forward to eating in the morning, and I appreciate Havana for providing choices that accommodate people like me who still need to eat but donât love traditional breakfast foods; so thereâs a variety of options not solely based on breakfast foods in the mornings.
That being said, I do think the overall quality control could be a little more consistent. The food is never badâitâs always at least âgoodââbut it has the potential to be truly spectacular all the time. There are usually âone off daysâ that typically happen during the weekend. If they tightened up on consistency, it would take an already great experience to the next level.
When it comes to drinks, I havenât run into anything I didnât like. Seriously, feel free to take a gamble on something that sounds good because chances are, youâll love whatever you order.
My family and I rely on Havana daily to start our small business off on the right foot, making sure we have full bellies before getting to work.
Unfortunately, for the past three days in a row, my sisterâs omelette hasnât been delivered, forcing her to go elsewhere for breakfast and delaying her morning. We brought it to the staffâs attention, and while theyâve offered to redeliver it, at that point, it would just end up rubbery and unappetizing. So we have declined.
I truly hope this is just an honest mistake and nothing intentional, but I canât help but wonder, given that some of the employees are old childhood friends who havenât spoken to her in years for who-knows-what reason. Iâd like to believe that isnât the case, but you never really know.
All that aside, Iâll attach a picture of my go-to mini pizzaâmy favorite way to start the day. Iâm so grateful for it because, again, I am not a breakfast person in the slightest.
If you havenât been to Havana yet, and especially if youâre a Janesville native (or new to town), what are you even doing? Get yourself a meal ASAP and fix...
Read moreBeautiful atmosphere, refreshing place to have a unique breakfast. So glad to finally have another local cafe to enjoy! I think they have a lot to offer, but also a lot of potential. The food quality has room for improvement, though I do appreciate the fresh selection considering the lack of nearby options. I gave only three stars entirely due to the negative vibes that honestly prevent my experience from being great every time I enter. I am astounded that they have kept the young lady at the front counter this long, who appears adorable initially, but has the ugliest and least professional attitude every single day. The lack of customer service skills are something that I wouldnât even expect from a local fast food window worker! If I were running this business, this is the first thing Iâd change. I would be rotating her to a kitchen-only roll, and giving the face to face position to someone more qualified (if the option of letting her go entirely isnât possible.) I know several teenagers who would absolutely embrace that position and enjoy it. She looks miserable, and this kind of negative vibe destroys a place like this. Attitude goes such a long way in customer service and is SO Important. Errors and poor quality can be overlooked easily when the atmosphere is welcoming, cheerful,...
Read moreSUPER cute and beautifully designed coffee shop/cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating enabled us to "dine in" outside so our dog could sit with us while we ate.
Salads are the only gluten free option on the menu. We ordered a chipotle chicken wrap turned into a salad and an avocado BLT salad. Both were delish, but with the small portion of protein on the salad, they were not filling.
For drinks we ordered a smoothie and a refresher. The refresher was a bit too syrupy sweet for our liking, but the flavor was good. The Mango Peach smoothie was delicious. Smoothies are made with vanilla yogurt, so processed sugar is going to be in the smoothies. I didnt consider asking if they had plain yogurt to substitute, which you might consider asking or just having them leave it out all together if following an anti-inflammatory diet.
Overall, this was a great substitute for a fast food stop. The food was fresh and tasty. Being only a few extra minutes off the Janesville exits from the chain restaurants, it is a local place worth checking out! I was also told the owner is looking into what they can do to add more gluten free options to their menu... that...
