Arris Pizza Palace Jefferson City, Missouri
If you are ever visiting downtown Jefferson City area, just know that you MUST visit Arris Pizza Palace, Arris Pizza Palace is the ONLY restaurant I recommend you visit in downtown area!
FACT IS NO OTHER RESTAURANT ANYWHERE IN JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI CAN COMPARE OR EVER BEAT ARRIS PIZZA PALACE! I PUT THAT ON ALL MY MANY YEARS LIVING IN JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI and ALL MY YEARS EATING AS MUCH ARRIS PIZZA AS I HAVE EATEN TIL NOW!
Arris Pizza Palace has been a great family owned business here in Jefferson City, Missouri since I was 4 years old and it continues to thrive over 60 years later with their speciality homestyle pizzas they are famous for making all these years!
This restaurant is by far on the top of the Food Chain of places i love to eat, has been before there ever was an Anthony Bourdain/Parts Unknown adventure of his trying food at different restaurants across the world. I can even remember my treating an uncle from New York to Arris Pizza Palace and asking him afterwards WHICH is better, Arris pizza OR New York pizza?? His reply was clearly New York pizza. Not what I wanted to hear BUT i gave him a right to his opinion, much like my having lived in state of California, which do I like best California or Missouri?? My answer would likely be BOTH, there are always PROs and CONs to everything!
Located here in the downtown area of Jefferson City, Missouri, across from the Missouri State Capitol building.
Since Arris Pizza Palace began serving gourmet deserts, the kind you see on magazine covers in the food stores, this Creme Brûlée Cheese cake is my first of trying their deserts that i have tried thus far and the problem i have is that it is SO good that i am having a hard time moving on to also try the other gourmet deserts you see the instant you walk into their palace.
HERE'S THE PLAN, or at least MY PLAN make time to visit Arris Pizza try one of their pizzas THEN, it doesn't end here... before leaving select a gourmet desert to TAKE home. trust me, you will have room for that desert later, in other words, consider your pizza just the foreplay...and I do mean it like THAT!
Without the desert you had fun but not bad girlfriend fun, if you know what i mean!
YOU WILL BE BACK... AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and...
Read moreAfter a 45-year hiatus from Jefferson City, I craved a pizza from Arris Pizza Palace. Arris Pizza Palace was the downtown hangout in the 70s. The pizzeria pre-remodel featured a large glass window where you could see hand-thrown pizzas being made from High Street. You could also observe your pizza being made from the leather booths while seated inside.
Standing near the downdraft of the exterior kitchen vents and breathing the fragrant wafting exhaust made me crave my pizza reunion all the more. I ordered a plain cheese pizza to go.
What happened to this pizzeria over the decades? As soon as I lifted the cardboard box top, I knew this was not the pizza of yore. The pizza looked like a frozen industrial pizza would look just before being flash frozen. The dough can best be described as pita dough that was repurposed for pizza. Baked pizza dough is supposed to be chewy and slightly bubbly. The dough is the foundation of the pizza and if you cut corners here, the entire pizza is ruined.
I get it. This is Jefferson City. Maybe a lot of residents have never had a quality New York pizza or are not of the age when everything was made from scratch. This newfangled pizza was a highly processed pizza and an abject FAIL. Maybe the demand for a high-quality pizza is not present so why bother?
Arris Pizza Palace is an iconic downtown landmark and I expected better. You had 45-years to perfect your game. Bring back the original, high quality...
Read moreI had not been to heiresses for decades simply because it's not in my turf but a friend took me in and it was every bit as wonderful as I remembered it I had the gyro sub sandwich and had it toasted which was a special request and they didn't mind and it was so wonderful the meat just never disappoints it's so delicious and the way they fix it is just a classic I mean it's their signature stuff you know and in it and it's just always reliably delicious I had also breadsticks no marinara though and I think she might have been too busy and miss that but I had a house salad which was fabulous and just the right amount of salad dressing on the side I had that sub and I also had a few pieces of the house pizza that my friend ordered and it was great I could have eaten a whole one by myself which is what he did and I almost wished I had ordered that but I wasn't sorry because my cell was just fabulous but anyway the point is everything was great and everyone in there the place was packed everyone in there was happy talking eating enjoying themselves the wait staff was busy but coordinated they seem to flow like a well-oiled machine and keep everybody in drinks and food and happiness and that's the way a good restaurant should be so I guess they get five stars for me thanks Arias's for...
