Peruvian restaurants are scarce in the city of Chicago. I was very pleased to find this restaurant, and my experience there today was more than extraordinary. By the expert and kind recommendation of my waitress, Flavia, I had the ceviche carretillero. It's a ceviche but with added fried calamari, corn and sweet potato. The ceviche was absolutely perfect, very well marinated in a lemon sauce, tender, juicy, and just delicious. The calamari was also very well done, tender, perfectly cooked, and just right. The service was very attentive, and the recommendation spot on. The restaurant is fairly new. I believe they've been in business at this location for less than a couple of years now The decoration is well curated, the bathroom super clean, and the experience highly pleasant. They do not have an alcohol license, but I am told this is because they want to attract customers of all ages. I'd say if you've never tried cevice, or you are craving for authentic quality ceviche done with craftsmanship and love, look no further, Avenida Peru is the place to go!

This is the best Peruvian Ceviche criollo I ever had in Chicago. Is made with corvina and NOT with tilapia as most of the purifican restaurants in this city which make a huge difference in the flavor and quality. The portions is great. And as I’m in keto diet I asked to leave out the sides and it was also great portion even without the side. Fair prices for such a good quality. I will definitely comeback. 5 stars!

First time trying Peruvian food and this place met my expectations of this amazing cuisine! One of my friend's recommended this place to me. She said that the place reminded here of how food was made at her grandma's home back in Peru, with that description in mind, I definitely had to give it a try! Food was really good, portions are big, and the staff is really nice and open to give any recommendations.

My husband and I were looking for a new Peruvian restaurant to try out. We were excited to try out a new place and so we took the long drive because the food looked amazing. Well we didn’t even get to try the food because as soon as we walked in we were told we needed reservations. The place is pretty small and there were 3 tables available. The waitress did apologize but we were left with a bad first impression. Service should be first come first serve considering the place is small in the first place. And if reservations are needed then that should be noted somewhere online and at their place of business. No reason why they should turn away business like that. So if you want to try them make sure to call first especially if you’re coming...

Ended up eating here because La costa (restaurant) next store had a long wait. The waitress barely greeted my girlfriend and I when we walked in. They took almost 25 minutes to bring out the food! I ordered a chicken dish that came with rich, fries and side of bad tasting salad. It honestly looked like they cooked the chicken and fries in an air fryer. To top it off the waitress forgot about us and I had to get up and pay the bill. The waitress was just chit chatting in the back with other employees. Overall bad food and service. Highly disappointed because I like to support small businesses but not the ones who don’t value...
