Came in on a Saturday night around 4pm eager to have dinner with my boyfriend. Upon arrival we were greeted at the host as always, waited about 10 mins for a table, no biggie seemed fast for a Saturday. Once sat at the table we waited approximately 12 mins to get a server to attend us. We were seated right at the back by the service station about 5-6 servers hanging out, we alerted one of the service staff to let them know we’ve been waiting for a while with no water, it took them about another 5 mins after that to get someone to take our order. At the point we’re pretty hangry as we waited a total of 15-16 mins waiting on your server, finally i flag someone down to come to take our order, however Sofia our “server” seemed to be very annoyed taking our order. Now I ordered the Asada plate as I REGULARLY do. Once food approaches the table I could already tell my steak was NOT med-rare as I asked, took the bullet anyway and continued trying to enjoy what was left of our dinner, I had one tortilla worth of my food and realized yeah this wasn’t how it usually taste. For 1 - it was extremely dry, 2 - you can literally taste the charcoal from the steak to the point where I almost upchucked my food and then immediately stopped eating. Soon after I told the server I wasn’t enjoying my plate, again hardly even touched. At this point Sofia says there would be a manager to touch the table - we waited approx 20 mins for this so called “manager” to come which again never even came. Instead we had this lady dressed in a server uniform claiming to be part -time manager. This lady did absolutely nothing but waste my time as nothing was done. Then continued to go back and forth with me about my almost untouched plate. We spent more time waiting than actually dining. This was a place I enjoyed dining, unfortunately this would be my last time dining here, sadly I expected more as I myself work in the service industry as a manager in the River North Chicago area and would never leave a customer unsatisfied, I guess customer satisfaction is non-existent in this establishment.
Also if you’re going to give poor service at least make sure your kitchen door is closed so I don’t have to see my server in the back eating a yogurt con fruita while you having your paying...
Read moreFeeling to drive out of my neighborhood to try some seafood I found this restaurant. I saw the reviews were great so decided to give a try. I found a parking on front of the restaurant and as soon I got out I hear some Mexican music and a lot of people out but having a good time. For my surprise the people out were there because of the waiting time, it was Sunday on a beautiful day in Chicago so restaurant was packed, waiting aprox was between 20-30 min. The hostess was very nice and with a smile gave us the option of the table but had to wait the mentioned time or in the bar if there’s any spot you didn’t have to wait. I decided to go to the bar cause I was super hungry and actually we only waited 10 min. The server/bartender also with the smile gave us the menus right away and we ordered one Mexican beer and margarita. Menus was long and I had to go back and forward looking the pictures of other people reviews, at the end I ordered first a molcajate mix (Shrimp, sausage, bean, steak and melted cheese) and also we ordered a whole snapper 🐠 that comes with small shrimp, rice, salad and fries. When the first plate arrived I was already impress with the speed, presentation and taste and then when the second arrived I was even more impress of how huge was the plate, I literally couldn’t even walk cause it was so much fun. It was the first fine I hear about this restaurant and visited but definitely won’t be the last. I enjoyed every second I was there, staff were great, music was loud but I felt I was in Mexico so I liked it, speed of food was very fast and of course the portion and taste of the food were DELICIOUS. Highly recommend it to visit this restaurant if you are looking for big eats and great...
Read moreI really like this place. The food is good and the atmosphere is very inviting. The only reason I am giving two stars is because on my last experience there with my family our server was extremely rude and disrespectful. She only went to our table around 2 or 3 times and that was only when we called her over. I understand that when you have more than one table it can get busy; however, the way that she handled our interactions was unnaceptable. While taking our order she seemed unwilling to answer our questions about some menu items. I’m not sure if this was because she didn’t know what was in the item or if she just didn’t care. She also did not even bother to come out when other servers brought out our food. Because of this one of our food items was swapped with something else and when I had attempted to get it corrected she just walked away from our table. At the end of our meal she was unwilling to split up our check into two because she had apparently decided that there was a rule that the check could only be one. We’ve been there on multiple occasions and have never had an issue with the service or with being able to split up our check. This experience was by far the worst we’ve had and I hope that anyone who reads this takes into consideration that the service may be less than acceptable if you receive the server...
