I stopped by to dine in on a busy Saturday afternoon and was completely disappointed by both the service and the pizza. I have dined in at this particular location times before and have had positive experiences, nothing to complain about really. Anyways, I ordered a thin crust pizza and some wings, the lady at the counter said it would be about 45 minutes. About 20 minutes go by and one of the employees brings out the wings, nothing out of the ordinary considering pizza takes longer to cook than chicken wings. Another 30 minutes go by and I see that a table that ordered after me was having their pizza brought out. I didn’t get up and ask about my pizza at that particular moment because I figured mine would be next. Another 10 minutes go by and another table has their pizza brought out. By this point it has already been about an hour of me waiting for my pizza so I walk up to the counter to ask the lady how much longer it would be before my pizza was ready. She asks for my receipt and I show it to her, she then proceeds to walk back to the kitchen to check on my pizza with no luck. Then she checks that warmer oven they have behind the counter ( I assume this is where the pick up orders are kept) and brings my pizza out to the table. God only knows how long my pizza had been sitting there. She only apologized after I asked her why my pizza was in there, saying they thought it was a pick up order. Why would half of my order be a pick up? My wings were brought out, so why wasn’t the pizza? I then asked her if she knew how long the pizza had been sitting there, to which she replied “Well thin crust usually takes about 35 minutes.” So the pizza had been sitting in there for at least 20 minutes? I told her the cheese was completely stale, and all she said was that she was sorry. I should’ve asked to speak to a manager, but I didn’t want to be one of “those” people and cause a scene in a crowded restaurant. I understand that mistakes happen, but this is completely unacceptable considering both the price and the reputation of this establishment. If I wanted mediocre customer service and stale pizza I would have ordered delivery from Pizza Hut for...
Read moreWe came to this place as tourists. Chicago is a place where relaxing takes about 2 to 3 trips. My host explained that to us, and the server here at Giordano's confirmed it. So here we go, making our trips to get real comfy at the local pie shop. I ordered what could only be the stereotype of men. A Meat with More Meat deep dish pizza pie.
When we got our pizza pies, our server asked us if we would like to be served the first slice. I need not be belittled, so I flexed what manhood i had and openly questioned this, "Why would I need you to serve a slice to me? I can do it myself!" As I picked up a slice with the spatula, I was confident in my skills... until it fell, a perfect 180 degrees face down onto the table.
My entire party was laughing. I was mortified. I never had a deep dish pizza, but the fact that I couldn't even serve a single slice to myself was a mortal blow to my soul.
Enter server. Laughing quietly, he reassured me that this wasn't the first time he's seen this, and that it's easily reconciled. He gracefully took a damp towelette and verbally enforced a "boom!" Where he cleaned up my dribbling mess.
I tried to recover what I could from that slice of pie, but alas, I could not recover all the pieces of my social image. But I will not forget how kind the server was to my plight, and how delicious the pie was with his kindness...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place and first time in Chicago, deep dish pizza was one of the most recommended food and this place specifically one of the most recommended. Although, I have to say the huge disappointment especially with the store manager at the moment (think his name was Nicolaus). We were 9 people at the time. When the cashier saw us she immediately told us to pick whatever table we want, so we did. Right away the store manager cought her attention and started to scolding her in front of the clients (me). She was so embarrassed. Then as a family group we started to have fun and talked, he came to us asking us to shut down our mouths (😡)because he was on the phone and couldn't heard anything. At the moment we get there we were the only clients, afterwards 2 more tables came. He served them first and offered sodas and water while our table was empty. Long story short, he was very rude with the cashier/waitress and with us. I am NEVER going back to that restaurant again. It seem he is racist. He make our visit VERY uncomfortable. The food (deep dish...
