What a beautiful experience in this old style Italian Restaurant. We were greated by the owner, she also was our server since we were there in the middle of shifts change I guess she was the only ones in the restaurant, she was really kind and helpful a the end of our meal we also met the daughter and we discovered than that was a family business with one daughter in the kitchen one in the front and the Mom at the head of everything. What a nice family atmosphere in this place and what really surprised me was the incredible cleaning in all the restaurant. Everything was just clean at the perfection from the ceiling fan to the restroom and this is really hard to find in the restaurant. We were just visiting Chicago but I'm sure if we were locals we want dining there once a week at least.

UPDATE 2024: Now that’s a full half carafe of Chianti! UPDATE 10/2023: OMG Rose from Sicily made the pumpkin soup! Elegant and nuanced. Light, creamy, and with a soupçon of home grown organic oregano. What is happening to my life!!!! UPDATE: Homemade giardinara?!!! Fresh and heavenly. UPDATE: I tasted oregano for the very first time here. I’m talking about authentic intense garden oregano. The kind of oregano that just transports you. Fresh grown. Just minced. Breathtaking. ———- Stunningly delicious and satisfying. Crostini from a dream, topped with thick hardy mozzarella and garden fresh basil. Authentic and home made. Learn Italian here.

We ordered pickup. Multiple beef sandwiches, gnocchi with meat sauce, and a few other things. The gnocchi was completely raw dough and inedible. They forgot the au jus AND the peppers for the beefs. The gnocchi by itself was a $20 meal, straight in the trash. See pictures, it was completely uncooked. When we called to get the issues corrected, they offered a whopping $5 for their errors, which doesn't even begin to make up for the raw gnocchi meal, not too mention their other mistakes. Will not be going here again.

I've never had a worse experience than I did at this place earlier today. My family and I have been going to Martinos since I was a little girl. In the past, the waitresses were always extremely pleasant and accommodating. Today my mom and I went to lunch there. She ordered the tilapia and when it came to the table it looked like someone had eaten and then regurgitated it. It was mushy, disgusting and completely unappetizing. We are not complainers so we simply asked for it to be taken away and taken off the bill. The waitress took it from us and the "manager", if you can find a way to call her that, came to the table WITH the food in her hand as well as the menu and proceeded to tell us that my mom ordered it and it cannot be taken off the bill because this is not a "taste test" place. We explained back that we have been coming here for years and have never had an experience like this and that at any other restaurant when you do not like and therefore do not eat the food it gets taken away from the table and taken off the bill. She was extremely argumentative, confrontational and rude and argued back saying that my mom should have read the menu better because she ordered it and it's $20 piece of fish that we have to pay for. I asked if she was the manager and she said yes and I asked to speak to someone else or the owner in which she nastily stated we can talk to the "other manager" who is, without a doubt, the owner of this horrible establishment. This manager/owner came to the table and was just like the other one, argumentative and rude and proceeded to make the same comments as the other one. We informed her that we will not pay for something we didn't eat under any circumstances and I stated loudly that we will not be back here and she said "good we don't want customers like you to come here anyway." We finally informed her that we will not pay for something we didn't eat and they will have to call the police if this is their decision. The owner, who I believe name is Rosie, walked away and stated to take it off the bill because she's not dealing with this. I have worked at a couple different restaurants in the past and I am now an office manager and I have never nor would I EVER talk to customers with this complete and total lack of respect and human decency. This restaurant is OBVIOUSLY suffering with money if they would put up this big of a fight and try and force people to pay for something they do not want and didn't eat. I have never seen this lack of customer service before in my life and I will never step foot back in this place again. Maybe these two should find a job in which you work alone all day because you both have ZERO customer service skills and you are obviously the issue with why we were, in a large restaurant, 1 of...

I've ordered from Martino's before, and I've never had an issue. Previous orders have been for a cheese pizza and breaded mushrooms, the pizza has good sauce and the mushrooms were fresh and crisp, but I was very displeased with my order from yesterday night. In this order that I placed for the whole family and I spent over $130 for individual meals instead of a pizza to share, and I can tell you that I had several issues with this order. First, my oldest daughter ordered fried shrimp with fries. They had given her 6 small shrimp and fries, the shrimp itself was okay in taste but only 6 small shrimp was unacceptable and the fries had no flavor at all. To pay $17 for that meal was ridiculous. My husband had Chicken pizzaiola, they took one chicken breast spilt and cooked it, the flavor was fine but nothing special, and again a very small portion for nearly $20. My other daughter had a meatball sandwich, again the taste was just okay and the fries were completely bland with no flavor. My youngest daughter just had the chicken fingers appetizer, she liked the taste but again they should have given more for the price. I myself has shrimp piccata, I honestly could Not believe the tiny portion that I received for again like $22. I only received a small bowl of pasta with like 5 tiny shrimp on top, I could have made that myself and saved the money. The taste was okay but Not great. I also ordered a salad for everyone to share, surprisingly the salad was the cheapest thing I ordered and where I received the most food. The salad had many veggies, it was fresh and their garlic dressing was very good. The salad was the only thing I ordered that I was pleased with. Also, I ordered 2 cannoli's for dessert, these were decent but again could have had better taste especially when they're $12 for two. Honestly, I don't understand how they can charge you so much and you receive so little food, and obviously the taste was Not what I would expect from this restaurant. The entire meal ended up being a waste of money and was extremely disappointing. I could have went downtown and spent the same amount of money and received better food and way bigger portions. If I ever decided to order from Martino's again which I doubt I will, I would only stick to the pizza, salad and maybe...

GREAT PIZZA... however my last experience wasn't so great. I placed my order over the phone for pickup. Although the pizza tasted great they got the toppings wrong. What I didn't like is when I called just to see if I was charged for the toppings (asked for extra cheese did not seem like extra cheese compared to other places) and I asked for half onion and onion was on the whole pizza. So I know what I ordered. My kids don't eat onions so I know I said half onion. The rude lady who answered the phone tried to say I ordered it wrong which is total bull. If you make a mistake own up to it. Terrible customer service. Not even an apology. Just instantly blamed it on me. Saying her "girls" repeat the order back. Yes they repeated it but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been typed in wrong or the cook couldn't make a mistake. She tried to say well this is your time ordering here so how would you know if that was extra cheese. I have ordered before just from a different phone number. So no it wasn't my first time. Just definitely didn't feel welcomed or valued as a customer. I do love the pizza but being the way I was treated I probably won't be back. Treat your customers with respect. You made the...
