City Barbeque — Restaurant in Jerome Township

Sounds like service and order accuracy are better if you dine in. Like others I did not receive the right items on my 2 family pack online order. My order was placed at 5:05 with an ASAP pick-up time of 5:30. I replied to the text that I was OMW and checked in once I arrived. Someone came to my car with an order about 5 minutes later and asked my name. She then decided it was not the right order, so I continued to wait until 5:50 when another order was brought to my car. The employee apologized for the wait and said she threw in a piece of chocolate cake. I appreciated the thought, but one piece of chocolate cake isnt much help when there are 6 other hungry folks waiting to eat back home. I'm kicking myself for not checking the attached tag because it was also not my order. The tag had another name and completely different car color and description very visible on it. To return to the store would have taken 15-20 minutes where we would have waited again and not gotten home for most likely an hour total. The last time we ordered from City BBQ (Gahanna) we were missing the meat from our order. I was hoping things would be better at this location. I'm thinking it would be better to forego the online ordering and just arrive at the store to place our order for nights we host...

Order a $15 cowbell lunch. Toast was served unfresh so I decided to ask for new garlic toast. The manager obliged but the lady put 2 dry pieces of toast back on my plate. Fresh, yes. But she didn't even attempt to make the order to spec. I just wanted fresh garlic bread. It's the highlight of the sandwich for me. I brought it to the managers attention and he told me he just watch her make it. Understood, but look at the sandwich, there's nothing on the bread. Not even a slight hint of gold color that would tell me they put garlic butter on either side. But he made me feel as though that's the standard set at this location so I skipped lunch and got a refund. Also. Not sure who is or isn't serve safe certified but every person preparing meals to send out could clearly be seen eating over the cutting boards and other food equipment. Nor did the lady wash her hand after eating before she re made the bread for my order. The pride no longer exists with this company. Or atleast not...

So I decided to try city bbq for the first time and was somewhat disappointed. I will start by saying that the staff here was friendly and insightful when choosing what to order. I purchased the sandwich on Texas toast and thought“that would be a pretty big sandwich”. When I seen it put in the bag I was like “dang that thing is huge”.so I went out to my car I immediately pulled it out to eat and was kinda bummed at how small it was. Looked past that and began to eat my sandwich and the breads toasted texture was more soggy and stale than fresh and crisp. About a quarter of the way through i bit something that almost broke my tooth. At first I thought it might have been a piece of bone but wasn’t, looked kinda like a brown chocolate chip except way harder. For the cost of the sandwich, expectations are higher for me.
