I got a Costco membership last fall and have been getting the hang of getting the most out of it. The store in Plain City, OH is clean, well-stocked, and most of the employees are very courteous and helpful. Rhat said, on Tuesday 06/24/25 I had a perfect storm of 5 bad experiences in 1 visit. I understand that this was not typical, but I feel I need to bring each separate one to management's attention. I will make each a bullet point so I'm not going on too long or ranting. I don't know what the legal minimum is for handicapped parking, but the store needs more. I don't feel I should have to circle the parking lot for 15-20 minutes waiting for someone in a handicapped spot to leave so I can grab their spot. Likewise, you need to stock more of the motorized carts--you simply don't have enough. I waited 19 minutes & 40 seconds for one to be available (I had set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes, with the intention of coming back later if I didn't have a cart by then. My disability is temporary, not permanent, so hopefully by NY Eve I won't need the carts anymore (likewise the handicapped parking), but OTHER CUSTOMERS will. When I first came in and asked about the carts I mentioned that I wasn't up to walking all the way back to the pharmacy without a cart. And during the time I was waiting I had 2 more conversations with him. So he knew I was there to go to the pharmacy. When I got my cart and went back, there was a sign at the pharmacy counter saying, "Closed for Lunch. Back at 2:30 [not in words; the sign had a clock face]." Grrrrr. Now,I understand that these things happen. But the part you need to improve us that I urge you to figure out a way to have the pharmacy notify the front of the store so customers can find out if it happens again. I decided to do something other than sitting and stewing, so I ordered a hot dog at the food court and do some work on my phone over your wireless network. I took my hot dog to one of the tables by going up the "middle" aisle. When I went to leave, I found I was trapped by the parked car (the "Costco Car") at the end of the food court. Again, Grrrrrrr. If the employee who put it there had been mindful of customers, he could have parked it just 6 inches back and I could have navigated out of the food court easily. I tried backing my cart down the aisle but it was blocked by other customer's carts. I finally found an employee who helped me out by moving several of the tables so I could drive my cart out in the middle. But it was another 20 minutes wasted. When I got to the pharmacy, the pharmacist told me there were no prescriptions ready for me. I hesitate to use the word "lie," because that implies intention, but it was untrue. I had received text notifications that AM and the website had told me about which prescriptions were ready. The battery in my phone was during, or I would have opened up both resources and waved them in his face. Despite my requests,, he refused point blank to investigate further, ask a supervisor, or take any steps to resolve the problem (this being the most aggravating part of the whole experience). He dismissively sent me on my way.
So the whole trip to Costco was a TOTAL waste of time. I was pretty streamed when I left, thinking, "thanks Costco; that's 3 hours I'll never get back," (and other things far less polite).
That afternoon I had too many other things to write this in the heat if the moment (probably a good thing, since now I am trying to make my criticism constructive instead of just ranting at you with my hair on fire. But I believe all 5 of these things...
Read moreI used to love Costco but now wonât walk in there after yesterdayâs experience. I have gone to this location multiple times using my momâs membership to purchase groceries for HER. I walked in and the lady checking to see if I had a membership at the front never made a comment about me using my momâs membership and not one of my own. So I continued on to gather the list of things she needed and headed to checkout when I got up there I unloaded all of the small items and left large/heavy ones in the cart. While unloading the cart I handed my boyfriend the membership so the cashier could scan it so that I didnât hold her up. Instead of scanning it she said who is this, my boyfriend responded with itâs her mom. So I walked closer to see what the issue was she then very rudely said well where is she which I replied with sheâs at home and she said then you canât purchase any of this. I told her my mom recently had surgery a few weeks ago and is unable to drive long distance (sheâs an hour from Costco) and just got out of the hospital do to an illness the cashier then told me it doesnât matter and I said on top of it not only am I purchasing these for HER I also live with her. She again said doesnât matter. Then called over a manager that was just as rude as her and and the cashier says âsheâs trying to use a membership that isnât hersâ the manager flips over the card and says the card says no one else can use it. Although I understand they donât want friends or extended family using the membership, I am her daughter who lives with her so thereâs no reason for me to have my own. I then told them we will be canceling our membership and getting one at Samâs club, sad to say after reading other reviews most people feel more appreciated as a customer there anyways. Also not to mention I wasnât buying just a few things therefore without my business they lost a few hundred dollars just for being petty. A few hundred dollars may not matter now but if they continue being careless for their customers they are going to lose a lot more. I hope they enjoyed putting away all the groceries and losing our business as we used to shop their often but now itâs an inconvenience to my family. Therefore I took the membership and left, called my mom and she immediately looked into Samâs club memberships. We will have to drive farther for Samâs club but I rather be cared for and respected as a customer. On top of all of this we never had problems at other locations, while my brother is away at college he uses my dads card at his local Costco and yes they realize itâs not him but all they ask is for him to confirm the address/show his ID that proves he lives in the household, and they have no issue allowing him to use the membership. I hope this location realizes how disappointing their service is to their customers. Respect goes a long way to impact customers but they just donât have it here. (I wish I took the time to check the name tags of the cashier and manager) but this situation has been turned into a representative with higher authority than them. It was truly the rudeness that made the instant decision to cancel our membership and switch. They could have politely made me aware of it and allowed me to purchase the items this time and then I wouldâve known in the future to bring my mom with me. But I didnât know cause I never had an issue before but now they lost our business and close friends/family are now considering to cancel their memberships. Do...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer of Costco since 1993 and am a native of Seattle, Washington where Costco started. When I moved to Columbus, OH a little over a year ago I was thrilled there were two Costco stores here. However, I had to drive a bit so it was always an outing. However, shortly before we moved to our new home in September 2016, this new Costco had just opened its doors 1 month prior. I was so excited to have one so close. That said, I went there the other night to pick up a cake for my son's team dinner the following night. I was there shortly before the store was closing. I asked a gentleman in the bakery if I ordered a white sheet cake right now, at 8 pm, could it be ready by noon the next day. He said, "it shouldn't be an issue, just write that you will pick it up at 12:00 pm". So I did. Then, I noticed that my son's school colors weren't listed, so I asked him if they could do Maroon and Gold. He said to write it in on the side and he said they would do their best. I told him red and yellow would be fine if they couldn't match it. So, I submitted my order. When I came to pick it up the next day it was ready on time and the color was perfect, maroon and gold! I was beyond ecstatic and the team loved it! I told every mom there that I have ALWAYS loved Costco but I am beyond impressed now! Way to go, Costco, I'm a proud Seattle-ite that is following you around the country! That said, we were just in Kona, HI for the holidays and stopped at Costco right out of the airport for our week's supply for a family of 6. Then, on the way back to the airport I told my husband we should fill up the rental car with gas at Costco gas. We saw one gas station on the way that said $3.14/gallon. I said, let's check what Costco is. We pulled in and it was $2.59/gallon. He said, "thanks for reminding me about Costco!" I'm a true fan, and tell everyone I know about how great COSTCO is!!! Keep up the great work...a true...
